Reference/Web Services Librarian

Adelphi University Libraries seek a service oriented professional with website management experience to provide research assistance to patrons, teach students to effectively find information, and take a leadership role in the design, development and management of the Library website. Provides reference service, selects materials in assigned area(s), teaches information literacy, and is responsible for the oversight of the Library website. Chairs Library Web Committee, evaluates and recommends web applications and tools, and works with the Electronic Resources Librarian and others to promote and evaluate electronic resources. Advises on OPAC functionality and usability and keeps abreast of information technology trends. Represents the library to campus and external agencies. 

Qualifications: This is a tenure track library faculty position. Applicants must hold a master’s degree from an ALA accredited school of library/information science. A second post baccalaureate degree or similar proof of advanced study is highly preferred and is required for promotion to the rank of Associate Professor and tenure. It is desirable that applicants will have strong reference experience, preferably in an academic environment, 1-2 years website management experience, a basic understanding and familiarity with a CMS such as Wordpress, a strong interest in user interface design, and familiarity with current and emerging library technology and website best practices, trends and standards. The successful candidate will have a strong user service orientation, core academic values, library instruction experience, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, ability to lead and build consensus among library faculty and staff, the ability to work in a collegial environment, and evidence of ability to meet criteria for promotion and tenure. 

Work Year: 190-day work year per the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
