Serving within the reference department and reporting to the Associate Director for Public Services, the Instruction/Reference Librarian is actively involved in the library’s information literacy program, provides reference assistance to students, faculty and staff, and serves as library liaison to one or more university departments. Duties include:
· Teaches 1-4 sections of IDIS 110, Introduction to Information Literacy.
· Provides reference services and library instruction to library patrons, including advising researchers on appropriate electronic and print resources to complete research projects; works collaboratively with faculty to develop library collections.
· Participates in instruction activities to students, faculty and staff in both course-related instruction and subject-specific research workshops. Participates in campus and system-wide initiatives on information literacy. Provides individual instruction as requested.
· Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Requires a Master’s of Library Science from an ALA-accredited library school plus required skills. Also requires:
One year of library experience, preferably in an academic setting
One year of instruction/teaching experience, preferably in an academic setting
Experience in developing online resources and research tools
Familiarity with standard research databases
Excellent communication (oral and written) skills
Excellent time management and project management skills
Ability to work with others in a cooperative manner within a team environment and with those of varying degrees of technological aptitude

Responsibilities. The Director of the Prince George’s County Memorial Library System reports to a seven-member Board of Trustees and has overall responsibility for developing and maintaining an effective program of library services for the County. Electronic and Continuing Resources Librarian
Georgia State University Library seeks an energetic, knowledgeable and visionary librarian to provide leadership in developing, delivering, maintaining and assessing the University Libraries’ collection of electronic resources.
Reporting to the Head of Technical Services, and supervising personnel in the Electronic and Continuing Resources unit of the department, the successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating the purchase, licensing and maintenance of all electronic materials and will work closely with publishers, vendors, consortium partners and colleagues in other library departments including, but not limited to, Collection Development and Digital Library Services. The Electronic and Continuing Resources Librarian will implement new electronic resource management applications and manage existing applications including SFX, MetaLib, Verde, GALILEO Local Resources Integration (GLRI) and the library’s list of databases. Other responsibilities include monitoring the evolution of these systems and identifying new alternatives for managing and exposing the library’s electronic resources; resolving issues relating to access and maintenance of electronic and continuing resources; analyzing and disseminating usage data and preparing reports to assist in collections decisions; performing administrative duties and participating in university and professional activities including research, publication, planning, procedure development and implementation, and policy and decision making processes for the department and library.

JOB SUMMARY:
The Marston Science Library, University of Florida Libraries, is seeking a creative and service-oriented reference and collection management librarian for the chemical sciences. The Chemistry Librarian provides reference assistance, instruction, outreach, and collection management to support programs dependent upon the chemical sciences. Primary focus is on the departments of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, and Materials Science Engineering. A key element of the assignment is the use of new technology to access and deliver information to library users. The librarian works collaboratively in group efforts and maintains close professional relationships with faculty, students and colleagues. The position is responsible for special projects such as collection reviews, monitoring UF science publications, and creation of web-based resources. RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Provides traditional and electronic reference services for faculty, students and staff of the University of Florida, primarily in the science and technology areas. This tenure accruing faculty position has direct responsibility for coordinating circulation policies, processes, and project management for interlibrary loan, document delivery, and electronic course reserves for the libraries.
A key element of the assignment is the use of consensus building to determine/recommend consistency in policy development. The position is responsible for preparation of web-based resources, identifying best practices and trends in access services, and managing the workflow of a crucial unit whose goal is to support a large and complex research institution. RESPONSIBILITIES:

Works with all stakeholders to manage the compilation and communication of policies via the Access Support web site.
· Develops, implements, evaluates, and reports on new services and programs.
· Provides coordination for course reserves, interlibrary loan, and copyright for on-campus and distance users; utilizes new technologies to make delivery of these services to users as efficient and seamless as possible; monitors and evaluates workflow; and, coordinates upgrades of equipment and software. Supervises 8 FTE direct reports.
· Coordinates student, staff, and faculty training in reserves, interlibrary loan, and copyright. Promotes scholarly communication.
· Prepares departmental statistical reports and is responsible for synthesizing information for projects, grants, and library use.

Purpose of position: The Coordinator provides leadership in administering a materials budget to anticipate and meet the needs of the University community. This budget is over 5,000,000 U.S. dollars. Works closely with other program areas and branch libraries to coordinate shared activities.
Essential functions: Within the context of the Library organization and in consultation with other program areas, the incumbent plans for the continued growth and development of the Information Resources program. The Coordinator works with the Library administrators and other program coordinators to develop long range and strategic directions and initiatives. Develops the specific long range and operational goals related to Information Resources. Develops and implements mechanisms to assess progress toward goal and unit effectiveness. Monitors national and international trends and developments relevant to acquisitions, intellectual property rights, licensing, preservation and digital resources and provides initiative in supporting open access efforts and scholarly communication changes. Responds to the needs of the Program's primary customers, both internal and external. Participates in professional associations, workshops, conferences, and meetings; contributes to the advancement of the profession and the status of the UT Arlington Library. Required qualifications: American Library Association accredited Master's degree. Extensive and increasingly responsible and varied post-MLS professional experience in research academic libraries. Minimum of 5 years work experience in the administration of at least 2 of the following areas: acquisitions, collection management, preservation, or serials and electronic resources. Minimum of 3 years supervisory experience. Evidence of excellent oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated successful leadership and the ability to work productively with a wide range of individuals and groups. Able to articulate a well-developed vision for the future of collections, both print and electronic, in an academic library. Libary Education Positions
The School of Library & Information Studies, College of Communication & Information Sciences, The University of Alabama, invites applications and nominations for instructor for a three-year renewable contract, beginning as early as August 2009. Successful candidates will be prepared to teach six courses per year (including summer), to advise graduate students, and to participate in the life of the school. Instructors are welcome, but not obligated, to have a research/publication agenda. All faculty members provide online, on-campus, and off-site face-to-face instruction. Instructors must have 18 semester hours beyond the Master's degree; substantial progress toward a doctorate is desirable. Works collaboratively with other BMS Librarians and has shared responsibility for making decisions or recommendations pertaining to the online catalog databases as a whole (authority control, support contracts, record standards, relationship and communication with affiliate libraries) and for planning and communicating changes in BMS processes or policy that affect the access to materials and activities of the library. The BMS Librarian is responsible for original cataloging of monographs in a variety of formats, languages, and subject areas, using a variety of classification schemes, Library of Congress Subject Headings, and/or other established Thesauri.
Required Qualifications:
· ALA Accredited Master’s degree in Library and Information Science or equivalent
· Experience or coursework related to cataloging
· Project management skills including ability to organize work flows for efficient and effective use of staff time to accomplish a stated task within agreed upon constraints of time, budget.
· Demonstrated leadership and management skills and abilities that include, but are not limited to, supervising staff and managing funds.
· Ability to build a budget and request resources as needed given the priorities of the department overall.
· Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication
· Ability to plan and set priorities
· Ability to meet the requirements of publishing, research, and service required to achieve tenure.
Minimum Salary: $41,658/yr (corrected)
Desired Start Date: September 1, 2009 (negotiable)
