Databases/Serials Librarian

The Washington University Libraries in St. Louis are seeking a service-oriented, highly motivated, and energetic individual to serve as Database/Serials Librarian.  The Librarian manages all aspects of Database and Serial Acquisitions including supervision, budget allocations and expenditures, and project management.  Works collaboratively with subject specialists and others to maximize user experiences regarding these vital information resources.  Contributes to scholarly communications support by reducing barriers caused by license restrictions.  Is responsible for technical issues with proxy servers, database search engines, database/serial information on the library website, library branding and communications with subject specialistsWorks with the Head of Collections and Acquisitions regarding the development and implementation of collection policies and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:  ALA accredited master’s degree or relevant master’s degree; supervisory experience; knowledge of databases, serials or monographic acquisition issues and practices;  strong service attitude with excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills; proven ability to work effectively in a team environment with a diverse staff in a changing environment.  PREFERRED:  Second master’s degree; two years professional experience in acquisitions or as a bibliographer/subject specialist; experience with vendors.
