Washington
University Libraries seek a service-oriented and innovative librarian to serve
as the Head of Instructional Support Services providing
service to the Washington University community.
The
Head of Instructional Support Services provides expertise and leadership in
defining WUSTL Libraries’ role in the adoption and evaluation of new
instructional models, including the use of online learning platforms and
creation of non-traditional course materials. The Head works with WUSTL campus
leaders, library staff, academic units, and partner institutions in the
delivery of consortial learning initiatives. The position also manages library
facilities used for learning and media creation, as well as the staff and
student resources who deliver these services to an extended network of WUSTL
students, faculty and staff. Serves as a member of the Library’s Leadership
Group.
QUALIFICATIONS: MLS
or related advanced degree with minimum five years experience in instructional
support in an institution of higher education or similar academic setting; ability
to maintain effective communication and engagement with WUSTL faculty, staff
and students; strong
written and verbal communication skills; ability to lead staff in working in a
collaborative environment; demonstrated supervisory experience, including
mentoring of staff and student workers; excellent organizational and
time-management skills; experience coordinating discussions and leading
initiatives in an academic environment; experience writing peer-reviewed
articles and informal communications (blogs, social media) related to use and
adoption of emerging learning platforms and instructional support; experience
formulating new project ideas and writing grants to support project activities;
knowledge of ACRL’s Information Literacy Competency Standards for Higher
Education.
