Responsibilities
Reporting to the Associate University Librarian for Public
Services, the Head of Academic Outreach will collaborate with colleagues in the
library, including the research and education division of the Tompkins-McCaw
Library, and across campus to develop programs and services that focus on
students and faculty, including creating and implementing an innovative
Academic Outreach program directed towards undergraduate and graduate students
and faculty in the humanities, arts, business, sciences, engineering social
sciences and public affairs.
Qualifications
Required:
ALA-accredited graduate degree or accredited graduate degree in another
appropriate discipline. Direct
experience providing discipline-based library services in a research library.
At least two years supervisory experience. Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse
faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty
member at VCU. Preferred: Earned doctorate in a discipline represented at Virginia
Commonwealth University.
Experience supervising librarians in the provision of library services.
Salary: Salary
commensurate with experience, not less than $60,000 annually. This is a
full-time, non-tenured faculty position. Normal faculty benefits apply,
including 24 vacation days annually and choice of retirement and annuity plans.
