Fulfills a combination of responsibilities in the areas of reference, periodical collection maintenance, circulation, collection development, bibliographic instruction, information literacy training and liaison work with faculty.
Promotes and supports student learning.
Regularly plans and advances information literacy programming in the Library, Academic Excellence Center, and Technology Learning Center. Conducts training on the application and use of information literacy and technology initiatives, products, and tools.
Monitors and evaluates new research and information technologies.
Contributes to the development of new services and programs in the library, with particular emphasis on electronic media and technology.
Publicizes and promotes library services within the College.
Participates in appropriate professional development activities.
Regularly works on professional projects as assigned by the Director.
Required Qualifications:
Master's degree in Library Science from an accredited ALA program.
Ability to provide reference and research assistance and instruction at a general reference desk on the use of print and electronic resources.
Proficiency in online searching and information retrieval.
Experience in information literacy instruction and technology training.
Knowledge of Web site design and demonstrated familiarity with at least one Web development/authoring product.
Working knowledge of new and emerging technologies and familiarity with their impact on higher education.
Familiarity with current trends and issues in information literacy training and critical thinking skills training.
Ability to teach and work collaboratively in a multicultural, user-oriented environment.
