Title: Senior Librarian or Principal Librarian (Branch Manager)
Location: Various Branches
Schedule: 35 hours per week including evenings and weekends
Salary: Senior Librarian – $44,000; Principal Librarian - $52,000
Status: Provisional pending exam or Intergovernmental transfer if permanent


BRANCH MANAGER DESCRIPTION: The Ocean County Library seeks a dynamic individual to plan, organize, implement, and evaluate comprehensive branch services and programs for customers of all ages in accordance with the Ocean County Library Mission, Goals, and Strategic Plan. This includes community outreach, working with local Friends of the Library, participating in system-wide committees and initiatives, attending the monthly Branch Managers’ meetings, supervising one or more librarians or principal library assistants, and interpreting and influencing policy.

The Branch Manager is responsible for coaching/mentoring staff, writing performance reviews and other required reports, providing information services, speaking to groups and community organizations, and championing the Diversity Initiative for inclusive service to the public.

The Branch Manager is the primary leader at the branch. Solid communication and problem-solving skills, positive outlook, and leadership abilities are a must.

REQUIREMENTS: A Master's degree in Library or Information Science in a library program from a library school accredited by the State Board of Education and a valid license as a Professional Librarian issued by the Bureau of Teacher Certification, Thomas Edison State College. Senior Librarian: One (1) year of librarian experience
Principal Librarian: Two (2) years of librarian experience

Title: Librarian/ Senior Librarian (Children’s)
Location: Lakewood Branch Library
Schedule: 35 hours per week including evenings and weekends
Salary: Librarian - $42,000; Senior Librarian – $44,000Status: Provisional pending exam or Intergovernmental transfer if permanent

DESCRIPTION: The Lakewood Branch is seeking a creative Youth Services Librarian who loves outreach, creates dynamic programs and is an extraordinary team member. You will provide story times, children’s book discussions and programming throughout the year. You will continue the partnerships with the elementary schools and begin new relationships with other organizations that serve children and families. You will provide outreach to the growing and diverse community of Lakewood. We are seeking a visionary Librarian, who makes decisions; embraces technology; contributes to the team with ideas; serves on system-wide committees; and looks at everything as an opportunity.

REQUIREMENTS
A Master's degree in Library or Information Science in a library program from a library school accredited by the State Board of Education and a valid license as a Professional Librarian issued by the Bureau of Teacher Certification, Thomas Edison State College.

One year of professional librarian experience required for Senior Librarian.
