Coordinator of Information Literacy & Library Instruction

The Robert J. Kibbee Library serves a significant educational role in a college community committed to excellence in learning and teaching. The Library seeks a librarian with vision, enthusiasm, initiative, and strong service orientation to provide leadership and direction to its Library Instruction program. Reporting to the Chief Librarian, the Coordinator of Information Literacy and Library Instruction is responsible for providing creative leadership and assessment of the library’s information literacy efforts, and will work in collaboration with an excellent group of librarians, faculty and students, in building an exceptional library instructional program at Kingsborough.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Coordinator of Information Literacy and Library Instruction plans, coordinates, and leads the library’s instruction program and its assessment. As a member of the Reader Service team, the Coordinator of Information Literacy and Library Instruction also serves as a reference librarian with desk coverage duties and participates in collection development in one or more subject areas. The successful candidate will be a strong advocate for the library’s information literacy role on campus and will be capable of investigating and implementing new ideas and innovations in instruction and information literacy. Appointment will be at the Assistant Professor level and appointee must demonstrate and maintain a record of excellence in librarianship, scholarly achievement and service for reappointment, tenure, and promotion.

QUALIFICATIONS:
ALA accredited MLS plus a second masters degree required. The successful candidate will have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to formulate ideas clearly in both written and spoken form. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with faculty and students in interpreting and advancing the work of the library in support of learning and teaching and college level reference, teaching and/or library instruction experience are essential, as is knowledge of electronic information resources. Professional library experience providing reference and instruction in an academic library and experience in developing, evaluating and managing effective library instruction programs is preferred.

Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
