Faculty Vacancy Announcement – Assistant Professor (6NF284-SLIS)

Position Description: The School of Library and Information Studies invites applications for one tenure-track faculty opening. This is a 9-month position with the option to teach summer semesters. The SLIS faculty seeks outstanding applicants who are qualified to teach in any area of the LIS curriculum. We are especially interested in applicants who have demonstrated teaching strengths that can support the School’s curriculum in the following areas:
Computer/Information technology with applications for libraries and information institutions;
School librarianship and/or youth services;
Organization of information, and cataloging.

Position requirements: Successful applicants will possess an earned doctorate or be near completion of an earned doctorate in Library and Information Studies or related field and demonstrate a record of or potential for productive scholarship. Experience with online teaching is preferred.

Program description: The School of Library and Information Studies at Texas Woman’s University offers the oldest continuously-accredited Master’s degree program in the Southwest. In addition, the School offers several other graduate programs, including the Ph.D. in Library and Information Studies, a dual Master’s in Health Studies and Library Science, and preparation for certification in School Librarianship. The Master’s degree program is delivered almost exclusively online to a diverse student body in every region of the country and abroad.
