POSITION DESCRIPTION AND DUTIES

About the Queensborough Community College Library:

Queensborough Community College, City University of New York, is located on a park-like campus in Bayside. The college offers associate degrees in a variety of transfer and career programs. Queensborough Community College is committed to fostering a collaborative, learning-centered community and the Kurt R. Schmeller Library is very concerned with moving from a resource-centered traditional library to a learner centered environment.

Duties:

The successful candidate for the position of Electronic Resources/Web Librarian will have the following responsibilities: serving on a university-wide electronic resources advisory committee; managing locally held electronic journals and databases; maintaining and expanding linking capabilities with Serials Solutions, monitoring and maximizing access to free full-text resources, serving as local administrator with numerous passwords, managing database trials and statistics for e-resources, maintaining a proxy server, updating and maintaining the departmental website.
Reference, bibliographic instruction and collection development responsibilities are also required of all library faculty. The position includes evening and weekend assignments.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

ALA Accredited MLS required for Instructor position; a second Master’s or doctorate required for Assistant Professor appointment; academic library experience; and experience with electronic databases and Dreamweaver.
