Classification: Faculty, 12-Month Tenure Track
Location: Northwest Campus, Lawrence W. Tyree Library
OVERVIEW: The Lawrence W. Tyree Library is seeking a full-time Librarian to provide reference services and teach library courses and workshops.
Responsibilities and duties may include:
- Provide library reference service.
- Provide library instruction on-site, on-line, via interactive video and at other college sites.
- Develop library curriculum and instructional materials.
- Integrate technology in library instructional activities.
- Serve as library subject area specialist to academic department(s).
- Facilitate meaningful library collection selection and deletion, in collaboration with academic departments.
- Participate in department and college meetings and activities
- Perform other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS: An ALA accredited MLS is required. Teaching experience and on-site and online reference services experience are required. Evidence of excellent communication and interpersonal skills and excellent collaboration skills are required. Must have the ability to be a team player and be actively involved in professional library organizations. Cutting-edge library technology skills and the ability to incorporate new technologies into existing systems while also realizing the vision of the 21st Century practices are required. Knowledge of issues related to library instruction and services and a strong public service orientation are required. Web development and online course design experience are preferred. At least three years academic library experience is preferred. Must be able to work evening weekend schedules, travel to other college sites, and be committed to working with students and faculty in an academic library. A criminal background check will be conducted.
