Full-time, tenure-track Instructor or Assistant Professor position with nine-month contract, and possible summer employment, available August 2009. Highly competitive salary.

Coordinate, develop and implement access services policies and procedures. Provide expertise to the university community on issues of intellectual property rights and copyright. Supervise support staff associated with circulation, reserve, interlibrary loan, and duplication services. Collect, analyze, and disseminate circulation, interlibrary loan and related reports and data to facilitate evaluation and assessment of unit and department programs. Provide leadership and planning for disaster and emergency preparedness. Coordinate access to and care of physical materials in library collections (exclusive of Special Collections), including regular assessment of space and preservation needs.Millersville University is one of 14 institutions of the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education. The Library employs 12 faculty and 11 support staff. Library faculty are full members of university faculty with all rights and responsibilities of other faculty members including eligibility for promotion and sabbatical leaves. Library faculty members are expected to engage in scholarship and professional development, service to the institution, and institutional governance. The incumbent, as part of the tenure requirement, must have completed 30 credit hours toward a second graduate degree within five years. Enrollment in a second master’s degree program is required for tenure; a doctoral program is preferred.

Required: American Library Association accredited master’s degree. Demonstrated experience coordinating, developing and implementing access services (circulation, reserve, stacks management, document delivery and unmediated borrowing) policies and procedures. Evidence of knowledge of copyright and intellectual property rights issues in higher education. Experience: supervising library staff or students; collecting, analyzing and distributing access services reports and data; coordinating assessment of space and preservation needs; with electronic information resources, technologies, and services. Strong commitment to current trends and issues in access services in academic libraries. Demonstrated experience with collaborative, collegial, and project orientated teams. Demonstrated commitment to service orientation. Excellent communication, interpersonal, problem-solving, and analytical skills. Successful campus interview and presentation.

Preferred: second masters or doctoral degree in relevant field. Experience with Voyager integrated library system; report writing software (e.g. Brio, Crystal Reports, Microsoft Access). Leadership experience with planning for disaster and emergency preparedness. Experience providing reference service and library instruction. Evidence of commitment to working in a diverse environment.
