Information Systems Project Manager

Contra Costa County Library in Northern California is seeking a talented Information Systems Project Manager to manage and coordinate projects related to the development, integration, implementation, and maintenance of the Library’s core digital services, as well as manage large computer system implementation projects, to support the Library’s Strategic Plan and blend a broad range of digital and technology activities with traditional library services.

THE POSITION
Contra Costa County operates 25 community libraries within a 750 square mile area and serves approximately 900,000 urban, suburban, and rural customers with an annual circulation exceeding 5 million.

Major responsibilities include planning and leading the Library’s creative application of new technologies to enhance services and information delivery to the community; working closely with assigned staff to identify potential gaps in existing products or services; determining strategies for successful implementation of a broad range of digital and technology activities that blend with traditional library services; supervising both librarians and technology-related positions such as the Library’s web master; providing vision and leadership in ongoing development of the library’s web site and digital initiatives; insuring continuation and development of next-generation library catalogs and resource sharing; and serving as project manager on assigned major technology projects.

Desired qualifications:
Familiarity with automated library systems and information technologies.
Personal participation in the collaborative web community.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Requires possession of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, data communication, information processing, or a closely related field. Requires four (4) years of full-time or its equivalent experience managing complex information systems projects which must have included three (3) years of design and project management responsibility for large applications systems and team leadership experience for both subordinate analysts and programmers. Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis up to a maximum of two (2) years.
