QUALIFICATIONS: Required: Masters Degree or Graduate Level Certificate in moving image archives, library and information science, film studies or other related degrees. Experience working with audio/video formats and files, digitization of linear media, website development, and editing digital media. Library Development Director
The Library Development Director will have a dual report to the University Librarian of Portland State Library and to the Vice President for University Relations or the VP’s designee. This is an unranked, unrepresented, full-time, 12-month appointment. This position provides leadership and implementation of activities to enhance the fundraising program for Portland State University Library. The Director works closely with the University Librarian, Library staff, Portland State University Foundation, and Portland State Office of University Development to ensure that the fund-raising program and external relations are operated in accordance with the mission, procedures, priorities and needs of the Library and University. Some evening or weekend work and travel are required.
Required Qualifications:

The University of California, Berkeley, welcomes applications for a dynamic, experienced, innovative and service-oriented Head Librarian to lead the Jean Gray Hargrove Music Library.
Responsibilities:
The Head of the Music Library reports to the Associate University Librarian and Director for Public Services and Subject Specialty Libraries (Arts and Humanities, Social Sciences and Sciences). The Head is responsible for setting priorities in support of the university’s teaching and research missions, and shares in decision-making processes concerning library-wide planning and governance. Areas of overall administrative responsibility include management of Music Library budget and operations (including facilities), staff recruitment, supervision and staff development, and library public relations including donor relations. Other areas of responsibility include collection development both digital and print (including communicating with selectors in related fields and fostering collaborative relationships and agreements within the UC/Stanford Music Librarians group), public services (reference, bibliographic instruction and circulation) and technical services (cataloging and processing), as well as developing web-based resources in support of these functions. The Head must demonstrate an active role in professional and scholarly organizations at the local, national, and international level. It is expected that the Head of the Music Library will develop strong connections with faculty and students in order to address collection and service needs creatively and effectively. Qualifications:
Required:
MLS/MLIS from an ALA-accredited institution, or equivalent. Minimum of three to five years experience as a music librarian in a research library. Excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational, supervisory, and analytical skills. Demonstrated understanding of the information needs of music faculty and students and a working knowledge of music and audio information technologies and their ability to enhance library services. Familiarity with relevant print and electronic sources and well-developed computer and searching skills. Demonstrated understanding of music collection development issues, including the changing landscape of scholarly communication. Initiative, flexibility, and the ability to adapt in an evolving organizational environment. Candidate must have a strong commitment to excellence in service and a demonstrated ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.
Preferred:
An advanced degree in music and reading knowledge of a Western European Language. Demonstrated experience with current and emerging trends in music collection development and collection assessment. Experience with rare materials, including manuscripts and archives. Experience managing a library unit and supervising staff. Experience developing and managing budgets. Professional contributions beyond the primary job, active participation in University and professional organizations, and other research and creative activity will be expected. Depending on the research activities of the successful candidate, this position may lead to opportunities for teaching in the Music Department.

Duties and Responsibilities
Reporting to the Head of the Cataloging Department, the Principal Monographs Cataloger coordinates and participates in the bibliographic control of monographs and provides leadership within the Cataloging Department and throughout the Libraries for the formulation of policies and procedures related to public access to monographic publications. The Cataloging Department
The Cataloging Department is responsible for cataloging approximately 40,000 items annually including monographs, serials, AV, music, computer files, electronic resources, and government publications for all subjects and languages. The Department participates in CONSER, NACO, and OCLC’s Enhance Program. Including the Department Head, the staff includes 7 librarians, 23 library assistants and a varying number of student assistants. The Department consists of five sections: Monograph Cataloging, Serials Cataloging, Catalog Maintenance, East Asian Cataloging and Electronic Resources. The Department uses OCLC for cataloging and the Innovative Interfaces Inc. integrated library system.
The Libraries
The UCI Libraries are committed to innovation and excellence and are in a major period of growth and change. Access Service Coordinator

Access Service Coordinator
Reporting to the Head of Access Services, this position is responsible for assisting in the management of units in the Access Services Department - Olin Circulation, Interlibrary Loan, and Olin Reserves- with specific responsibility for managing course reserves at Olin Library in both physical and electronic formats. This position will supervise the Access Services Reserve Assistant and a work force of 25-30 reserve students.
Typical Duties:
- Collaborate with the Head of Access Services, other librarians and staff to plan, implement and assess library projects that involve units in the department.
- Propose, implement, evaluate and revise Access Services procedures and workflow; use wikis, blogs, or other appropriate applications for documenting departmental policies/procedures.
- Keep abreast of current and emerging technologies for the Olin Reserve and other Access Services functions; provide recommendations for incorporating new technologies to improve library services.
- Serve as the primary lead for the systems and applications used by the Reserve/E-Reserve department, including Docutek E-Reserves, and Voyager's reserve circulation module; develop and maintain interfaces between Access Services systems to streamline workflow and limit duplicate manual data entry.
- Supervise Access Services units - Olin Circulation, Olin Reserves and Interlibrary Loan -- in the absence of the Head of Access Services.
- Manage, organize and maintain a circulating collection of approximately 6,000 physical items and 2,000 electronic readings per semester. Maintain the circulation and fine system for Olin Reserve material.
- Collaborate with faculty to clarify and negotiate their reserve requests in accordance with curricular needs, budget limitations and copyright law. Evaluate the fair use status of reserve requests and seek copyright permissions when needed. Troubleshoot problems with reserve access.
- Coordinate reserve processes/procedures with reserve staff in the Art, Music, and Science libraries.
- Serve on library and University committees as appropriate.
- Supervise Access Services Reserve Assistant
- Supervise a work force of 25-30 reserve students: interview, hire and train.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and experience. Minimum of two years work experience utilizing a variety of computer applications, with proven ability to quickly learn how to use specialized software/hardware. One year of previous supervisory experience. Demonstrated experience in an online library environment. Excellent communication skills and customer service orientation. Intermediate to expert knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel & Access). Working knowledge of web technology and web editing. Demonstrated aptitude and accuracy for detailed work,
ability to work under pressure and with constant interruptions. Physically able to push a filled standard book truck of approximately 400 lbs and repeatedly reach high and low in the stacks to retrieve/shelve material.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience using the circulation and cataloging clients of an online library system. Experience using electronic reserve management systems. Experience searching library related databases. Previous experience in an academic library.
