Instructional Services Librarian

This position is responsible for coordinating the information literacy instruction program, developing and implementing instruction and presentation training programs, providing formal and informal instruction and marketing programs and services to the ODU community.  This position is also responsible for providing reference and research assistance, selecting and evaluating library collections in assigned subject areas, implementing library outreach services, participating in library planning and development, and contributing to the library profession.

REQUIREMENTS: ALA-accredited MLS degree; Experience providing reference service in an academic library or research environment; classroom teaching experience. Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills, initiative, flexibility, creativity, and the ability to work effectively with users and colleagues.  Evidence of excellent communication, public speaking, teaching, writing and analytical skills.  Willingness to experiment, take risks, and accept responsibility for outcomes; capacity to see need for action and act appropriately; and the expertise to monitor, analyze and adapt current trends. Strong web skills (html, blogging, app use, etc.,) and facility with commonly used virtual, physical and social media tools used by academic library customers.  Demonstrated knowledge of standard online learning systems such as Blackboard or Adobe Connect and demonstrated knowledge of production tools (e.g. Adobe Creative Suite, Audacity, Camtasia).  Evidence of potential to maintain an ongoing program of skill enhancement, scholarship, and professional development. Extensive knowledge of academic electronic information resources. Awareness of current issues in academic library services.  Preferred: Experience with program or instruction assessment; experience as a project manager.                            

SALARY AND BENEFITS: Beginning salary is $49,823. Commensurate with experience.
