The Berkeley Public Library,
established in 1893, has a Central Library and four branches, Tool
Lending Library, Adult Literacy program and free delivery to residents
with disabilities and is one of the most heavily
used public libraries in California.
The Berkeley Public Library is
currently accepting applications for entry and journey level Librarian
positions in our Art & Music, Children's and Adult Reference
divisions.
Librarian I is the entry level class
in the professional librarian series. This class is distinguished from
Librarian II, in that the latter is the journey level class in the
professional librarian series which
performs more difficult librarian work involving complex services
requiring a thorough grasp of reference sources and search techniques.
Duties include; Reference and
Reader's Advisory services, Collection Development/Management, program
planning and implementation, community outreach and other duties as
assigned.
Bi-lingual skills in Spanish or Chinese are beneficial.
Candidates with an MLS and less than
2 years experience as a professional librarian should submit only the
Librarian I application. Candidates with 2 or more years of experience
should submit only the Librarian
II application.
Salary: $5,293-$6,926 DOE
