Library Director


Fletcher Free Library in Burlington Vermont is currently seeking candidates for the position of Library Director. 

The ideal candidate is a motivated leader who will successfully bring together the two keys areas of day-to-day operations and dynamic community vision and engagement, while promoting a collaborative and open atmosphere. The Director will partner with City agencies to enhance the Library’s already strong commitment to cultural competency and diversity programming. Masters of Library Science degree from an A.L.A accredited institution and two years relevant library experience in a public setting or State of Vermont Librarian Certification plus five years relevant experience.
Knowledge of emerging technologies and library trends, as well as fundraising and development activities will also be essential to this position.

The Fletcher Free Library is located at the heart of one of America’s most beautiful small cities with just over 42,000 residents. The largest public library in Vermont, FFL is one of four Carnegie libraries in Vermont. The 45,000 sq. ft. building houses 147,000 items with an annual circulation of over 400,000.  Situated between Lake Champlain and the Green Mountains, the City has received many quality-of-living awards from national magazines and organizations.
