Working
closely with the Libraries’ leadership team, the Coordinator of Marketing and
Outreach is responsible for planning, administering, implementing and assessing
library programs and services related to marketing, public relations and
outreach; oversees the coordination of internal and external communications and
activities such as presentations, public events, brochures and displays that
promote library services and resources; coordinates the collection of data used
for assessment of library resources and services; and engages in library
collection management responsibilities.
Specific
Responsibilities
- Develop a communication plan for the library that supports identified goals; consult with stakeholders to identify needs, objectives and design approache
- Write library news items, including events, special hours, announcement of new collections, and events; publish news to website, and distribute to other media
- Serve as liaison to the Marquette Office of Marketing and Communication, working to place library news in campus media; coordinate branding strategy and design standards
- Assist in the planning and promotion of library events and speakers
- Actively seek, coordinate and implement programming opportunities with other departments on campus and beyond, with the goal of increasing the library’s visibility and involvement in the life of the University
- Coordinate the writing and production of a variety of printed publications for the libraries, including effective and informative information brochures and newsletters
- Coordinate photography of major events, exhibits and staff events for use in internal and external promotional campaigns
- Participate in the Libraries’ social media presence
- Work with Libraries' webmaster to create and schedule library news for the home page
- Coordinate the collection of statistics and data related to library resources and user services
- Coordinate the completion of surveys including the Academic Library Survey, ACRL Statistics Survey and as well as data requested by the University’s Office of Research
- Engage in library collection management responsibilities
Required Qualifications
- ALA-accredited Master’s degree in Library and Information Science
- 2 years of related experience
- Demonstrated knowledge of operations, services, key issues and trends in academic libraries
- Strong computer competency, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and social media applications
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, and the ability to deal with diverse constituencies
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience promoting library services
- Experience in design or desktop publishing, web authoring software, and instructional technologies
- Experience with library statistics collection and analysis
- Experience conducting analysis and creating reports using statistical software (Excel, SPSS, etc.)
