The University of Nevada, Las Vegas Libraries invites
nominations for and applications from innovative, collaborative,
externally-focused applicants to lead the Division of Special Collections as
Director. The primary mission of Special Collections is to collect, preserve,
provide discovery and access to, and promote, interpret, and instruct in the
use of our materials. The Special Collections Division documents the
history, culture, and physical environment of the city of Las Vegas, the
Southern Nevada region, the global gaming industry, and the University of
Nevada Las Vegas. Reporting to the Dean of Libraries, the Director is a member
of the senior management team sharing responsibility for the overall management
of the Libraries. A primary role of the Director will be in external relations,
fund-raising and community engagement: documenting and communicating to
stakeholders the value of Special Collections to the university and to the
community. The Director will work closely with the Dean, the Libraries Director
of Development, and the Libraries External Relations Manager in development and
communications activities for the Libraries. The successful candidate
will combine traditional experience and competencies with knowledge of current
trends in Special Collections and will lead the staff in shaping and
implementing a shared vision, with a focus on continuous improvement. For more
