Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA accredited school PLUS two (2) years of increasingly responsible professional library experience. Training and experience with archives management and support of a digital file management system is preferred.   Working some evenings and weekends is required.  Preference will be given to applicants who are Certified Archivists.

The Fort Worth Library is seeking a qualified candidate for the Senior Librarian-Archivist.  The qualified candidate will have an in-depth knowledge of the principles, practices, techniques and trends in archival theory and concepts, archives management, and knowledge of general print and electronic information resources.  A minimum of three years of professional experience in a manuscript, archival or special collections setting, including collections processing, preservation, development of digital collections and reference instruction is desired as well as experience with CONTENTdm file management system.  The ability to learn new programming languages is required.  Excellent organizational skills, an awareness of current trends in collection development, strong Internet and computer skills, a track record of successful adult programming for diverse communities, well-developed communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to handle multiple tasks are also qualifications necessary for this position.  Must have a strong commitment to public service and enjoy working directly with the public.

This position is responsible for supporting the unit’s ongoing operations, including selection and collection development; organization and description of archival collections; reference/research services by telephone, e-mail, and in person; and developing innovative approaches to deliver superior customer service.
