The Lila D. Bunch Library at Belmont University is seeking applications for a non-tenured faculty ranked Music Librarian. Belmont seeks to attract an active, culturally and academically diverse faculty of the highest caliber skilled in the scholarship of teaching, discovery, application, and integration of faith. Belmont is among the fastest growing Christian universities in the nation. Since 2000, enrollment has risen from just under 3,000 to more than 6,400 students for 2011-12. As enrollment steadily increases, so too has the recognition of the quality educational programs. In the 2011 U.S. News & World Report ranking of America’s best colleges and universities, Belmont was once again ranked in the top ten in the Regional Universities South category.
Job responsibilities include administering all aspects of the music library and Listening/Viewing Center functions and policies, including, but not limited to, staffing, budget, collection development, reference, bibliographic instruction, cataloging and circulation. A BA in music and an ALA accredited MLS is required. A second masters in music is highly desirable. Prior work experience in a music library is preferred. Priority will be given to those with at least two years experience as a professional librarian. The successful candidate will also be expected to be a person of Christian faith and demonstrate a commitment to the mission of Belmont University.
