Albertsons Library, Boise State University invites interested applicants for Head of Information and Research Services, to become a part of our team to continue our quest toward becoming a Metropolitan Research University of Distinction.  The Head of Information and Research Services is responsible for managing the instruction, liaison, outreach, reference, and research services of the Library. This experienced and innovative librarian works independently and with other unit managers to explore new models of access, incorporate emerging technology, and provide services that are responsive to the information needs of the University in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment. Position reports to the Associate Dean.

Responsibilities include:
·         leads, supervises and evaluates performance of librarians and staff in the Information and Research Services unit;
·         actively contributes to library–wide planning, policy-making, goal-setting and assessment efforts as a member of the Library Dean's Council;
·         establishes priorities, goals, and benchmarks for the unit;
·         collaborates with unit coordinators in delivering instruction, liaison, outreach, reference, and research services within a web-based, search-intensive discovery system;
·         provides effective leadership to meet the information and research needs of faculty and students;
·         serves as a liaison to one or more academic departments;
·         participates in the shared instruction program and liaison specific instruction;
·         incorporates innovative approaches and technologies to existing and future services;
·         provides support for the integration of research and teaching through collaborations with University departments and programs;
·         facilitates professional development opportunities for librarians;
·         maintains a current awareness of University and Library policies, activities, and curriculum; and
·         participates in reference services including desk, chat, email, telephone, and individual research appointments; may include night, weekend, and holiday hours.
Minimum qualifications:
·         Master's degree from an ALA-accredited Library and Information Science program
·         Minimum 5 years post-ALA accredited degree professional experience in an academic  library
·         Successfully demonstrated supervision and leadership skills
·         Demonstrated commitment to excellent customer service
·         Strong commitment to diversity
·         Knowledge of current trends and issues in mobile and emerging technologies
·         Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
·         Innovative, flexible, attention to detail, highly productive, and creative
·         Potential to meet all the library faculty requirements for tenure and promotion
Salary and benefits: Salary based on qualifications. Minimum $50,000 with a comprehensive benefit package. This is a full-time (1.0 FTE), 12-month, tenure-track position with faculty status.
