Manager of Cataloging

The St. Louis Public Library is seeking a Manager of Cataloging. Candidates must have a MLS degree from an ALA accredited school required. Three years experience that includes significant cataloging experience.

The person filling this position will have thorough knowledge of cataloging and classification procedures, bibliographic resources including OCLC. Knowledge of cataloging standards to include AACR, Dewey, LCSH and MARC formats. Ability to plan, organize and manage operations of the unit and to effectively motivate and manage staff. Must have knowledge of library materials, issues and trends in the field, and the ability to apply that knowledge appropriately.

The person in this position will manage the cataloging unit that catalogs 30,000 titles annually and supervise 5 employees. Must have excellent communication skills, strong computer skills and flexibility.
