Senior Subject Specialist


 
St. Louis Public Library has an opening for a Sr. Subject Specialist.  Candidates must have an MLS from ALA accredited library school and at least 3 years of progressively responsible experience in archives, rare books and manuscripts, or special collections.  The person filling this position will be responsible for the acquisitions, processing, finding aids, conservation and preservation of the materials in the Special Collections Department.  Will also be responsible for the St. Louis Room, opening with the renovation of Central Library, which will be a combination of the St. Louis Area Studies Center, St. Louis Information Center and other St. Louis related materials from various collections in Central Library.  Will supervise 3 fulltime employees and also work closely with the Manager of Electronic Collections in the digitization and description of significant parts of the collection.  Must be able to plan, develop, and execute exhibits and programs related to collections.  Will be responsible for community outreach and the development of partnerships that benefit the St. Louis Public Library.
