Part-Time Unit Professional Staff
(Evening/Weekend Reference and Instruction Librarian-Lowell Campus)
Middlesex Community College seeks a self-motivated, service oriented part-time Evening/Weekend Reference and Instruction Librarian to work as part of the Library Services team in the Lowell campus Dobelle Library serving students, faculty, staff and community users. The successful candidate must enjoy working with our diverse library users and library staff to provide evening and Saturday reference assistance and library instruction that supports student success in both the library and online environments. Position begins with the fall semester. Training to take place in August.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide professional library services to community college students, faculty and staff.
Assist in operating the library by providing circulation and reference services.
Assist students with research and use of 60 student computers.
Collaborate with other librarians to develop online resources in support of our curriculum.
Provide supervision to and assistance with circulation functions as needed.
Other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Master’s degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited program, or closely related field; previous professional-level library experience helpful, but not essential.
Energetic, approachable, and service-oriented professional with strong computer skills.
Must be pro-active and self-motivated about helping students succeed.
Commitment to working with students, staff and faculty of diverse socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, including those with different levels of academic preparation and varying physical and learning abilities. Hours: Part time, non-benefited professional staff position, 23 hours per week when classes are in session - 30 weeks per year. Hours: Tuesday through Thursday, 2:30 pm - 9:00 pm. Saturday, 11:00 am - 4:00 pm
