Director

The Ferndale Public Library, Ferndale, Michigan (www.ferndale.lib.mi.us), has an immediate opening for the position of Library Director.

Ferndale, Michigan is a diverse community with excellent quality of life. The city boasts a thriving, walk able downtown, great restaurants and shops, classic affordable homes and easy access to other parts of the Detroit metropolitan area. In May of 2007 the citizens of Ferndale voted by a two-to-one margin to double local library taxes, providing a $1.2 million annual budget. The incoming director will therefore have the opportunity to:
• Help design and oversee construction of a nearly $5 million building expansion and renovation emphasizing innovative use of space and technology and environmentally-responsible green construction and operation.
• Revitalize library services using new and future technology and a staff ready for change.
• Become a community and library leader in city with a high degree of civic engagement.

Qualified applicants will present demonstrated leadership skills, relevant library achievements, and an MLS or equivalent.

Salary range: $60,000-$80,000. Starting salary negotiable based upon experience. Excellent benefits.
