Director of University Library
The University Library maintains over half a million volumes in book collection, and provides access to over 10,000 periodical titles, and has an overall budget of $3 million. There are 12 faculty librarians, 11 library staff, and 85 student assistants. Library faculty members enjoy full faculty status. The Library serves as a federal depository library and maintains significant special collections, particularly in education/curriculum and Pennsylvania history. The Library manages access to collections primarily through the Ex Libris' Voyager System.

RESPONSIBLITIES: The Director of the University Library is the Chief Administrative Officer of the University Library, serves as a member of the Deans' Council and reports to the Provost/Vice President of Academic Affairs. The Director leads the development and implementation of a shared vision of the Library in support of the University's mission in teaching, scholarship, service, and campus/community engagement. The Director works with the Library faculty in strategic planning, integration of appropriate technology, policy development, collection development and consortial collaboration. Additionally, the Director collaborates in resource allocation, advancement and development activities; and serves as an advocate for the Library. The Director works within a collaborative system of shared governance while representing the Library to internal and external stakeholders. The Director evaluates Library faculty for reappointment and promotion and supervises support staff in accordance with collective bargaining agreements. The Director works with the University Commencement Committee to coordinate fall and spring University commencement activities. The Director performs any additional duties as assigned by the Provost.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Master of Library Science from an ALA accredited program plus a second master's degree; evidence of successful management and leadership within a college or university library; demonstrated ability to lead new initiatives consonant with the liberal arts tradition at Millersville; strong communication and interpersonal skills; demonstrated effective budgetary experience; demonstrated ability to lead, evaluate and supervise faculty and staff; demonstrated previous experience with strategic planning, facilities management and accreditation and outcomes assessment; evidence of leadership in collaborative activities; knowledge of emerging trends and issues in college and university libraries and related instructional/information technologies; demonstrated record of scholarly accomplishments and commitment to professional development; evidence of commitment to diverse populations who utilize library resources; capacity to participate in advancement/development activities; successful on-campus interview and public presentation.

Position: The Dean of the Kraemer Family Library is the senior administrative and financial officer of the library, reporting to the Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, and is a member of the Deans’ Council. Responsibilities include:

JOB SUMMARY:
The University of Florida Libraries is seeking a creative, skilled, and enthusiastic individual to serve as the Electronic Resources Librarian. This tenure track faculty member is responsible for the expert management of all acquisitions and licensing functions of library electronic resources. The position supervises two support staff and manages the activities of the Electronic Resources Unit within the Acquisitions & Licensing Department. The unit is responsible for managing license agreements, paying invoices, compiling and loading bibliographic records, and maintaining online access to all the electronic resources acquired by the library. The Electronic Resources Librarian collaborates and coordinates communication with Library Administration, representatives of the Florida Center for Library Automation, Health Science Center Library and the Legal Information Center, as well as staff from the departments of Access Service and Collection Management to renew license agreements and package subscriptions, in addition to initiating new electronic resources acquisitions. The expectation is that this librarian will develop and maintain expert knowledge on issues related to electronic resources and take the lead in implementing an electronic resources management system. Collect and analyze data to evaluate usage and make recommendations to collection management. In addition, the Electronic Resources Librarian will monitor and contribute to the professional dialogue regarding electronic resources development and trends. The selected applicant will be a motivated, service-oriented individual with a strong commitment to facilitating the use of technology and library resources in the UF community.
The duties of this position include:
1. Supervision and management of the Electronic Resources Unit operations. This includes planning and goal setting; monitoring and evaluating workflow for quality and quantity of production; hiring, training, and evaluating two full-time staff.
2. Management of electronic resources. This includes coordinating electronic resource acquisitions; facilitating the licensing process; coordinating access to electronic resources; and providing support for management of established licenses and contracts, license compliance, and record keeping for digital information.
3. Participation in library and state-wide discussions, conference calls, workshops, and projects to develop strategies for using electronic resources management systems, link resolvers, federated search tools, and enhanced user interfaces for integrated library system OPAC’s.
4. Participation in organizing, analyzing, and preparing data related to e-resources for use in acquisitions, collection development and institutional reporting.
5. Ensuring quality control in acquisitions by monitoring electronic resources vendor services. This includes performing vendor evaluations; facilitating negotiations of vendor services as needed; and preparing regular budget reports.
6. Establishing policies and procedures for acquisitions and cataloging tasks that comply with national standards and local policy and procedures. This includes co-chairing the Electronic Resources Management Committee; coordinating standards and procedures for electronic resources acquisitions and management; and coordinating licensing within and among the University of Florida Library Departments, branches and SUL state-wide consortium.
7. Contributing to the development of departmental and library goals, policies, procedures and priorities. This includes working with a variety of groups and various assignments, and reviewing current procedural and workflow documentation and recommending improvements.
8. Participation in and contribution to the library profession, particularly in the fields of acquisitions and electronic resources. This includes conducting research and publishing in peer recognized journals, and serving on national library committees.
Minimum qualifications:
1. A Masters degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited institution or in another field with direct relevance to the duties of this position.
2. At least two years of professional experience working with e-resources in some capacity.
3. Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem solving skills. Ability to perform workflow analyses.

The Technical Services Division of the George A. Smathers Libraries at the University of Florida consists of four departments: Acquisitions & Licensing, Cataloging & Metadata, and Preservation. JOB SUMMARY:
The Database Maintenance Librarian is responsible for coordinating and managing collection database maintenance activities to ensure accuracy of the library online catalog and OCLC. Duties include reclassification, withdrawal, transfer, retrospective conversion, reinstatement, error detection and correction, using Aleph reports and automated processes to make changes in the catalog, including global changes. The incumbent also oversees the Catalog Problems mailbox, participates in linkchecking, and provides support for inventory projects as needed. The activities are interdepartmental and interdivisional in nature, and need to be prioritized, assigned and accomplished with Technical Services and other library staff, in consultation with the Head of the Authorities and Metadata Quality Unit in the Cataloging and Metadata Department.
The incumbent should actively pursue professional development opportunities including research, publication and professional association work to meet library-wide criteria for tenure and promotion.
The duties of this position include:
1. Manage database maintenance operations, including planning, budget and goal setting for reclassification and other projects.
2. Supervise one FTE Library Associate I and temporary employees as needed. Provide hiring, training, staff development, and evaluation.
3. Examine and revise workflows and procedures as needed to improve efficiency.
4. Submit statistics and reports regularly.
5. Maintain data in UF OPAC and OCLC to accurately reflect bibliographic data, including current library holdings. Utilize automated processes, such as macros and global change functionality, to make revisions.
6. Contribute to the development of departmental and library goals, policies, procedures, and priorities. Work with Collection Management, Access Services, and Technical Services staff in various assignments. Provide input to improve ease of use of library materials.
7. Keep abreast of the developments in assigned field.
8. Participate in appropriate professional library organizations on the state, regional and national levels. Pursue professional development goals, including publications.
Minimum qualifications:
1. Masters degree in Library or Information Science from an ALA-accredited program.
2. Minimum 2 years cataloging experience.
3. Knowledge of AACR2, LCSH, LC Classification, and MARC21.
4. Excellent analytical and organizational skills.

Position Description:
The Maureen and Mike Mansfield Library of The University of Montana seeks a knowledgeable, highly-motivated, effective library technical services director for a dynamic information resources and teaching environment. The Head of Bibliographic Management Services (BMS) must demonstrate effective leadership, excellent personnel management skills, and have considerable experience in acquisitions and electronic resources management.
Reporting to the Dean of University Libraries, the Head of Bibliographic Management Services serves as a member of the senior management group of the Maureen and Mike Mansfield Libraries and works to facilitate effective communication and working relationships library wide and among the affiliated campuses.
The Bibliographic Management Services Division consists of two faculty, 14 classified staff, and 1.7 FTE in student workers. As division head, this position supervises the department staff responsible for the acquisition and cataloging of all formats and providing metadata expertise for the library’s growing digitization projects; is responsible for the development and application of policy, workflow, project management and resource allocation; administers acquisition fund management; participates in the Collection Development committee to provide budget reports and to implement methods of collection management that provides data for purchasing decisions; and plays a key role in overseeing electronic resource acquisition and management.
This is a tenure track position with the expectation of publishing, research, and service.
Essential functions

He or she will oversee the integration of library collections and services into course management software; identify best practices and set standards of excellence for teaching; advise instructors of emerging trends; and provide training and continuing education to library instructors. Qualifications
Required: ALA-accredited graduate or equivalent accredited degree in a related academic discipline such as Education. Demonstrated knowledge of instructional design and the application of technology to instructional services. Preferred: Substantial experience designing and leading instructional activities that range from first year programs to course-integrated support for graduate and research programs. Evidence of effective project management skills and the ability to plan and implement a program of services. Experience assessing instructional services, including classroom instruction and Web-based offerings, and developing course content. Understanding of learning theory and pedagogy. Significant experience with course management software, Web authoring tools, multimedia, and other instructional technologies. Demonstrated commitment to teaching and student learning. Ability to formulate and articulate a vision for instructional services. Preference for collaboration and group work. Management and supervisory experience. Academic reference and instruction experience as a subject liaison in a research library. Ability to meet deadlines and manage competing priorities under pressure. Strong service orientation. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Experience working in a culturally diverse environment highly preferred.

Training and Organization Development Officer
The Training and Organizational Development Officer is a new position in the Libraries’ Human Resources department and is independently responsible for assessing librarywide training and organizational development needs, and proactively developing strategies and programs to strengthen employees’ skills, knowledge, capacity for career progression, and sense of community. Working collaboratively with managers and supervisors, the incumbent will identify and prioritize organizational development needs, and will develop a strategic plan for training and development that includes but is not limited to: facilitating change; new technology; supervisory skills; group effectiveness; core competency assessment; mentorship; communication; performance evaluation; succession planning; library systems and operations; customer service; and library trends. Additionally, the incumbent will develop strategies for delivering programs that may include in-house design and implementation, contracting professional services, use of existing or developing technologies, establishing collaborative efforts with other organizations to leverage resources (e.g. UCI Human Resources and academic departments, UC-system, other university libraries), or other innovative methods such as self-paced learning modules. The incumbent is responsible for updating and implementing a comprehensive orientation program for new employees to convey the goals and mission of the Libraries. Working with the Libraries’ Director of Planning, Assessment and Research, Director of Information Technology, and others, the incumbent will coordinate the development and delivery of all training sessions and workshops throughout the Libraries, and will personally conduct training sessions as well as provide coaching and advice for colleagues involved in program delivery. The Training and Organizational Development Officer will establish evaluative measures to assess the effectiveness of all sessions and actively take steps to continually improve program delivery. The position will manage the training and organizational development budget; convene an advisory committee to identify organizational needs; oversee development and maintenance of a training and organizational development website; represent the Libraries on campus, regionally, and nationally.
The Training and Organizational Development Officer reports to the Director of Finance and Human Resources and will serve as an active team member of the Library Human Resources Department. The position may also be involved in Library-wide personnel activities, including policy interpretation, development of procedures, labor relations, recruitment, retention, and identification and implementation of best practices to improve operations and services.
Required Qualifications
· Knowledge of adult learning theory and practices, including analysis, design, development, delivery, and evaluation.

Responsibilities: Seeking a forward thinking Serials/Electronic Resources Librarian to provide vision and leadership for the functions of organization of serials, electronic resources and digital initiatives. Oversee the administrative functions of the acquisitions of serials and the functions of purchasing, licensing, and acquiring access to electronic resources with a $2.1 million budget. Participate in and provide support for digital initiatives to include the American University’s institutional repository (ARC) and the Blackboard Library Site.
