With a population of
250,000 and located in the North Bay across the Golden Gate Bridge from San
Francisco, Marin County is known for its combination of rural and suburban
lifestyles. It is a recreation destination for the entire Bay Area and contains
140,000 acres of public lands.
The Marin County Free Library is a special taxing
district with 202 total employees that operates ten branch libraries in Marin
under the authority of the Board of Supervisors. It provides public library
services to the residents of the unincorporated areas of the County as well as
the cities of Corte Madera, Fairfax and Novato. It has a stable funding base separate from the County’s
General Fund. Under general policy direction of the Board of Supervisors and as
advised by the Library Commission, the Director of County Library Services
plans, organizes, coordinates and administers all programs and services of the
Marin County Free Library System.
Requires a master’s degree from an ALA
accredited college or university and four years managerial or administrative experience
which has included administration of library programs and services in a public,
corporate, legal, medical or academic library setting and supervision of
professional staff through subordinate levels of supervision.
Salary: $136,178 - $150,134 DOQ.
