Reference & Outreach Librarian

Position: Full-Time Reference & Outreach Librarian, starting July 1 or August 1, 2012

Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited institution required. Strong public service, teaching, and outreach skills and a commitment to customer relations and user-centered library services are essential. Knowledge of current issues, trends, resources, and associated technology. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Trinity seeks candidates for positions who are professing Christians and can articulate a Reformed worldview. Previous experience, especially in an academic setting, strengthens the application.

Responsibilities:
Providing reference service and instruction in person, online, and in the classroom to a wide variety of students (graduates and undergraduates, residential and commuter, traditional and Adult Studies). Collaborating with faculty to integrate library information resources into student learning, and coordinating other information literacy initiatives. Marketing the library’s resources to students, faculty, and staff. Coordinating library instruction schedule and training paraprofessional and student staff in reference services. Some management of student workers, circulation duties. Working closely with other reference librarians to develop technologies that promote access to reference assistance and online resources, such as guides, tools, tutorials. Assessing instruction, collections, and services. Participating in professional scholarly and service activities. Serving on campus committees. Assisting Director in planning. Some evening and weekend work may be required.
