Head, Special Collections and Archives


The Virginia Commonwealth University Libraries invites applications and nominations for the position of Head, Special Collection and Archives at the James Branch Cabell Library. The VCU Libraries seeks a creative and forward looking leader who will continue the department’s successes building nationally recognized collections and support the teaching, research, and outreach missions of the VCU Libraries. The successful candidate will join a culturally and academically diverse faculty of the highest caliber. An accredited graduate degree in an appropriate discipline (Librarianship, History, Archival Management or related area) is required, as is three or more years experience in archives and special collections in a university setting. Understanding of digitization practices, ability to establish and cultivate donor relationships, curatorial skills, and thorough understanding of archival practice is preferred.  Salary: Commensurate with experience, not less than $65,000 annually.  Review of applications will begin May 2, 2011.  The full position posting, application procedures and other information are available in the complete position description at http://www.library.vcu.edu/admin/jobs/.
