ASSISTANT, ASSOCIATE, OR FULL PROFESSOR

The School of Information Studies (SOIS) at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM) invites applications for three full-time tenure-track position at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor levels.

Information Resources Emphasis
The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses on-site and online and conduct research in areas related to information technology, information security; information architecture, web design & development and related areas. Professional experience and a related research agenda are strongly preferred. A Ph.D. in an information-related field is required as is demonstrated ability in research and teaching. Library Emphasis
The successful candidate will teach courses and conduct research in one or more of the following areas: public libraries, collection management, information literacy, or other areas related to libraries, collections, or services. Substantial library experience and a related research agenda are strongly preferred. The selected applicant will teach courses in the School’s graduate M.L.I.S. program (onsite and online) and doctoral programs in Information Studies. A degree from an ALA-accredited program and a Ph.D. in Library and Information Science or their equivalents are required as is demonstrated ability in research and teaching. Information Studies Emphasis

The selected applicant will teach courses in the School’s graduate and undergraduate programs. A Ph.D. in Information Studies or an equivalent discipline is required as is demonstrated ability in research and teaching. The School of Information Studies offers a competitive salary for an academic year (9 month) appointment, plus additional compensation for possible summer teaching and generous fringe benefits.

Situated in the cultural, commercial, and educational hub of the state, in a pleasant residential neighborhood overlooking Lake Michigan, UWM is a research university committed to academic excellence. SOIS has a large, diverse, international faculty that is among the top ten LIS programs in the country for research productivity, a thriving Center for Information Policy Research, and interdisciplinary initiatives with numerous institutions in the United States and abroad. With more than 25 full-time faculty and teaching academic staff and more than 650 students, SOIS offers several educational programs: a Bachelor of Science in Information Resources, an ALA-accredited MLIS (which may be coordinated with other master’s programs in Anthropology, English, Foreign Language, Geography, Health Care Informatics, History, Literature, Music, and Urban Studies), a Certificate of Advanced Study in Archives and Records Administration, a multidisciplinary doctorate, and effective in the Fall of 2008, a Ph.D. in Information Studies. The SOIS instructional and research programs are designed to be a resourceful blending of the University’s mission combined with the School’s information focus, international scope, and interdisciplinary mindset.
