The University of Richmond (www.richmond.edu), a nationally ranked liberal arts university offering a unique combination of undergraduate and graduate programs through its schools of Arts and Sciences, Business, Leadership Studies, Law and Continuing Studies with approximately 3,000 undergraduate students is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Head, Instruction and Informational Services.

Boatwright Memorial Library provides a user-centered, service-oriented program in instruction and reference services. We seek an enthusiastic and outgoing leader to provide direction and planning for five liaison/reference librarians, Distance Education Librarian, and an Emerging Web Technologies Librarian. The position is responsible for assuring high quality instruction programs and information/reference services, both in the physical building and through virtual assistance. Managers liaison librarian activities, including the Library 100/101 instruction program, course-related instruction, and liaison relationships with academic departments. Develops and oversees information and library research services that meet student, faculty and staff needs.

Ideal candidates will have a MLS/MLIS from ALA-accredited program; Minimum 5 years experience with supervising full-time library staff; ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, staff and students; effective teaching and presentation skills; excellent communication and interpersonal skills; dedication to high-quality customer service; knowledge of best practices for information literacy and user services/customer service in academic libraries; knowledge of digital library and institutional repositories as they relate to instruction, collection development, faculty relations and reference services; educational background in the humanities preferred.
