Access Services Librarian (Search Re-opened)

The Auburn University at Montgomery Library seeks a creative, forward-thinking, service-oriented individual to provide leadership and management for the Access Services department of the Library. Serving as an integral member of the Public Services team, the Access Services Librarian is responsible for the management of the Library’s circulation and reserve services. The Access Services librarian is also responsible for working to ensure services provided to the faculty, staff and students of the University are appropriate and efficient. The position also includes other Public Services functions, including reference desk service, collection development duties, and in serving as liaison to academic departments.

Requirements: An ALA-accredited MLS or international equivalent; two years of experience in access services in a library, either as a professional or a paraprofessional; a demonstrated ability to identify goals, manage tasks and people, and to meet deadlines. Candidates must have a commitment to performing and maintaining exemplary customer service, professionalism, and an ability to deal with diverse library patrons. Excellent communication skills a must. Demonstrated experience in online systems for circulation and reserves.

This is a twelve-month, tenure-track position. Individuals must fulfill the requirements of tenure-track faculty in areas of contributions to librarianship, scholarly activities, and service.

Preferred: Experience in the supervision of personnel in a library setting; familiarity with copyright law as applicable to academic libraries; knowledge of current and emerging library technology.
