Associate University Librarian for Resources and Digital Services

Santa Clara University Library seeks an engaged, active, forward-thinking leader to join a dynamic senior administrative team in connecting our community to a vast array of resources, working to advance the library’s strategic plan, and fostering a culture of collaboration and communication. The Associate University Librarian for Resources and Digital Services will combine responsibilities for collection development, collections budget management, archives and special collections, digital initiatives, and technical services. Immediate responsibilities will involve implementing changes to technical services workflows and organizational units and taking a leadership role in the university’s scholarly communication initiatives including the ongoing development and growth of a new institutional repository.

Responsibilities:

90% Administration

Provides leadership, motivation, and vision for staff in the departments that report to the AUL
Supervises 5 librarians/staff; indirectly supervises 10 librarians/staff
Develops collaborative relationships on campus that further the library's strategic plan
Provides leadership and counsel on the future and value of academic libraries
Collaborates with department heads and other librarians as a spokesperson for collections and scholarly communication to our communities
Coordinates planning, operations and implementation of new initiatives with library administration
Manages a $3.8 million collections budget, including additional gift funds, and provides leadership in collections activities

10% Service and Scholarship

Serves on committees and task forces both at the department, library and university level
Participates in local, state, and national/international professional and scholarly societies and organizations

Required Qualifications:

MLS or equivalent from an ALA-accredited program
Minimum of five years of progressively responsible professional experience in an academic library setting, and minimum of three years supervisory experience
A strong background in both collection development and technical services
