POSITION:
Library Director, Tompkins County Public Library, Ithaca, NY.

LOCATION:
Ithaca, NY, the county seat of Tompkins County, is situated picturesquely in the heart of the
Finger Lakes region at the southern end of Cayuga Lake, the region’s largest lake. Tompkins County is a mix of city and country, rural, urban and suburban. The presence of Cornell University, Ithaca College and Tompkins Cortland Community College results in a highly educated, informed and mobile user segment of the population. DESCRIPTION:
Tompkins County Public Library (TCPL) serves the greater Ithaca area and coordinates services with five independently chartered Tompkins County libraries in Dryden, Groton, Lansing, Newfield and Trumansburg. TCPL is also the Central Library for the Finger Lakes Library System serving 33 member libraries in the counties of Cayuga, Cortland, Tioga, Tompkins and Seneca.
The ideal candidate must possess strong leadership, communication and budgeting skills to
guide a medium-sized library with a $3.4M budget, a staff of approximately 50 employees, an annual circulation of 835,000 items serving a county population of over 100,000, and a system population of over 310,000. The candidate must be able to provide vision and inspiration for the library community and demonstrate the capacity to provide successful collaborations with educational institutions, nonprofit organizations, local agencies, area businesses and community interests in the face of changing economic, social, and technological challenges into the next decade. http://www.tcpl.org

QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduation from an ALA Accredited school or program with a graduate degree in library or
information studies AND possession of, or eligibility for, a New York State Public Librarian’s Professional Certificate AND eight years of satisfactory professional library experience in a library of recognized standing, two years of which must have been in an administrative capacity.

COMPENSATION:
The salary shall be commensurate with experience in the range of $85,389 to $92,770 and
includes an attractive benefits package.
