Branch Manager

The St. Louis Public Library is looking for a Branch Manager to join the management team.


MLS degree from an ALA Accredited Library School and a minimum of 3-5 years public library managerial experience.

The person in this position must have supervisory skills to manage the day-to-day operation of a neighborhood branch. It is essential that the person in this position be able to direct the activities of others while maintaining excellent customer relation skills. Must have superior abilities in the area of reference and readers advisory. Also, will have the knowledge of reference tools, bibliographic sources and classification systems and the ability to apply this knowledge to assigned areas of responsibility. Should possess excellent organizational skills; report writing skills and attention to detail. Additionally, operational support is needed in the areas of circulation, statistical reporting, opening and closing of the branch, collection development, making presentations and directing the daily branch operations. Must have strong professional skills in community outreach and adult programming. Should be able to meet deadlines and follow SLPL Policies and Procedures. Experience working with diverse populations is a plus. Verbal, written and computer skills are essential. Must have a willingness to provide customer service in a small but busy branch in a transitional neighborhood.
