Indiana University’s (IU) School of Library and Information Science (SLIS) at Bloomington is searching for an enthusiastic and energetic person to fill a full-time tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor. Areas of interest include but are not limited to: digital archives, collection development, information retrieval, and the organization and representation of knowledge and information. The School is seeking outstanding applicants who are qualified to teach in any area of the LIS curriculum. The successful candidate will have earned a doctorate in information science or related field and will demonstrate evidence of effective and interdisciplinary approach to teaching graduate students and scholarship with experience/expertise in the areas mentioned above.
The successful candidate will also be comfortable working with an eclectic group of colleagues with backgrounds in cognitive science, computer science, information science, sociology, librarianship, linguistics, philosophy, and political science. SLIS’ faculty was recently ranked first in North America for its scholarly productivity and impact. In addition to the Master of Library Science (MLS) degree, the school offers the Master of Information Science (MIS), a Ph.D. in Information Science and an extensive roster of dual degrees, certificates and specializations. The American Library Association has accredited the school’s programs continuously for more than half a century.
