Outreach Librarian

This new position of Outreach Librarian has been created to bring the Libraries’ message to current users and to bring new users to the Libraries through existing mechanisms and experimentation with new outreach initiatives. Reporting to the Associate Dean for Research and Education, responsibilities include: working with others to develop new outreach programs for prospective, undergraduate, and graduate students in order to expose them to the Libraries collections and services; developing and maintaining relationships with campus partners around co-curricular, residential life, and service learning programs, which may include the Academic Success Center, Office of International Students and Scholars, student government organizations, and the Division of Student Affairs (Campus Life, Enrollment and Student Services, and the Center for Academic Enrichment and Outreach); re-invigorating and coordinating the Libraries’ role in new student and faculty orientations; supporting targeted communication efforts to UNLV faculty, staff, and students as a member of the Campus Communication and Marketing Committee; producing a quarterly e-newsletter for the campus community (includes working with others to develop story ideas, establishing timelines, writing articles, setting up an editing cycle, and publishing the newsletter); and assessing outreach efforts. In order to increase exposure to user needs, this position may provide reference or research consultation services.
