Education/Assessment Librarian


Slippery Rock University invites applications for a full time, tenure track librarian position beginning August 2013. This is a nine month per year position and provides competitive salary and benefits package.

Responsibilities:  The Education/Assessment Librarian serves as liaison to the College of Education and is responsible for developing and coordinating collaborative library assessment initiatives. This position also serves as liaison to assigned departments within the College of Health, Environment and Science, and participates in a rotation for providing reference services.

Minimum Qualifications:  Master's degree in library or information science from an ALA-accredited program or international equivalent and a minimum of two years of professional experience. Degree in education or K-12 teaching certification. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, students, faculty, staff, and general library users. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in multiple formats to diverse audiences. Ability to balance multiple projects and set priorities. Perceived ability to meet the academic and scholarly requirements for tenure. Demonstrated commitment to the education of diverse populations. Successful completion of an on-campus interview, including a presentation on a topic to be determined by the search committee.

Preferred Qualifications: Advanced degree in education. Degree in science and/or related professional experience. Professional experience with assessment and demonstrated analytical skills. Professional experience in higher education. Effective teaching skills. Strong collection management skills. Familiarity with electronic and traditional reference resources and trends.
