Faculty position with benefits package
Open Date:  8/10/2011; Closing Date: Document review begins immediately; position is open until filled.
 Annual Salary:  Competitive and commensurate with qualifications
Note:  Employment offer contingent on position funding.

Assists with the use and preservation of the archival collections housed in the Library, including: acquisition and appraisal for historical value, arrangement and description, and assistance to researchers in the use of the collections.

Maintain and improve the current University records of enduring value. Collaborate with the Digital Services librarian and other appropriate constituents to investigate, propose and implement digital technologies to enhance access to and preserve the collections. Develop digital finding aids and other electronic resources pertaining to materials housed in the Archives and Special Collections. Collaborate with other constituents to develop digital resources and metadata standards. Actively promote the use of the collections. Provide reference, consultation and instruction services related to the collections.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

MA in History or MLS degree from an ALA-accredited program with a concentration in archives and records management or a related field; good written and oral communications, project management, and planning; ability to work independently, collaboratively, and effectively with faculty, students, staff, and the general public; demonstrated knowledge of archival principles and practices; one year experience in a professional position in an archives or academic library.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Three years experience in a professional position in an archives or academic library.
