Fogler Library, University of Maine, Orono seeks an experienced librarian to serve as department head and to administer and coordinate fulfillment of the legal responsibilities as a Tri-State Regional Federal Government Document Depository and to support the instructional, research, and public service functions of the University by providing collection management, public, and technical service for the past, present, and future acquisitions of United States federal, Canadian federal and provincial, and Agricultural Experiment Station publications. Also to manage the delivery of Geographic Information Systems services including development of numeric and spatial database and software collections, creation of GIS instructional materials and the delivery of campus GIS workshops. Prepares reports and library publications, including web pages. Supervises four support staff and four student employees.

Required: ALA-accredited MLS and professional experience in an academic, or state, or public library with demonstrated experience with federal documents. Demonstrated leadership, management, and supervisory experience in a library. Demonstrated ability to manage programs, staff, and technology. Excellent oral and written communication skills for interpersonal, presentation, negotiation, and consensus-building. Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment. A willingness to travel within the Tri-State Region and to national conferences as needed or appropriate. Normally requiring a valid driver’s license. Must have authorization to work in the U.S.

University Housing/Residential Life Librarian

We are seeking an individual who can help provide leadership and resources for students residing in University Housing in creating and fostering communities that strive toward this vision. The eight Residence Hall Libraries were established to meet the informational, educational, cultural, and recreational needs of our students. The Residence Hall Library collection consists of 28,000 book titles, a large collection of DVDs, compact discs, and popular magazines including an extensive diversity and social identity collection. The Librarian coordinates the administration and supervision of all libraries and library staff in the University Housing Library system. He or she serves as an information specialist within University Housing and Residential Life. The Librarian supervises two full time secretaries, 2 graduate assistants, 2 graduate supervisors, and 55 students.

Qualifications
Minimum requirements for this position include a Master of Library Science (MLS) or Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) from an ALA-accredited school or it's degree equivalent and a minimum of three years full time experience in a library environment, including administrative experience and experience managing multiple priorities while coordinating a diverse set of functions is required of all applicants.

Experiential Preference will be given to candidates who possess:

Position Specifications

The position is a full-time, 12-month academic professional appointment. Overview
The Library Development Director will have a dual report to the University Librarian of Portland State Library and to the Assistant Vice President for University Development. This is an unranked, unrepresented, full-time, 12-month appointment. This position provides leadership and implementation of activities to enhance the fundraising program for Portland State University Library. The Director works closely with the University Librarian, Library staff, Portland State University Foundation, and Portland State Office of University Development to ensure that the fund-raising program and external relations are operated in accordance with the mission, procedures, priorities and needs of the Library and University. Required Qualifications

JOB SUMMARY
The University of Florida Libraries seeks a creative and service-oriented reference and instruction librarians for the sciences. This is multi-year grant funded appointment. The Science and Technology Librarian provides reference assistance, instruction, outreach, and some collection management for disciplines served by the Marston Science Library. A key element of the assignment is the use of new technology to access and deliver information to library users. The librarian works constructively in group efforts and maintains close working relationships with faculty, students and colleagues. The position is responsible for special projects such as collection reviews, monitoring UF science publications, or preparation of web-based resources. The incumbent may be assigned liaison responsibilities to specific departments in science or engineering related to the candidate’s educational background, previous experience and availability. The library encourages staff participation in reaching management decisions and, consequently, the Science and Technology Librarian will be asked to serve on various committees and teams.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Provides traditional and electronic reference services for faculty, students and staff of the University of Florida. Participates in the provision of traditional reference desk, reference chat and email reference services. Proactively assists library patrons with the use of computer workstations.

JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for the overall management and collection development of the Price Library of Judaica. Responsible for selection of library materials, reference service, research consultations, and bibliographic instruction in support of the Jewish Studies program. Promotes a public awareness of the Price Library of Judaica’s mission and resources and determines needs and priorities to enhance appropriate library support. Collaborates with librarians and the academic faculty to establish collection management policies. Participates in defining public service, technical service, and collection management goals, objectives, strategies, performance criteria, and materials budgets. Assigns, trains, monitors, and evaluates staff assigned to the Price Library of Judaica. Participates in the Library’s publications, fund raising, and bibliographical control programs. The library encourages staff participation in reaching management decisions and, consequently, the head of the Price Library of Judaica may be asked to serve on various departmental and library-wide committees and teams. The incumbent will pursue professional development opportunities, including research, publication, and professional association activities, to meet library-wide criteria for tenure and promotion.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
As the bibliographer for Jewish Studies, maintains and integrates the following responsibilities:
· Maintains contact with the faculty and students utilizing the Price Library of Judaica to ensure that the collections and services provided by the Library support needs. Informs this clientele of relevant library issues.
· Develops collection management policy and approval plans for the Price Library of Judaica. Stays informed of relevant Jewish Studies resources available in other libraries and collections.
· Reviews notification slips, trade and national bibliographies, advertisements, catalogues, and similar sources so as to initiate current and retrospective acquisition orders in all formats enhancing the Judaica collections in support of the academic program. Selects appropriate materials received by gift; reviews approval plan profiles and receipts for Judaica, and advises the Acquisitions and Licensing Dept. on sources of supply.
· Works with the library Gifts and Exchange programs to solicit and review gift collections and to establish exchange programs for Jewish Studies.
· Establishes cataloging and preservation priorities for Judaica materials. Makes storage, transfer, and deselection decisions for Judaica materials.
· Participates in the reformatting and digitization programs to ensure conversion of important items in jeopardy.
· Assists the Cataloging and Metadata Dept. in the copy cataloging of Hebraica and selection of materials for outsourcing of cataloging services.
· Provides consultative services to the faculty and advanced graduate students in Jewish Studies, usually by referral from public service areas or by specific arrangement with the academic program area faculty.
· Develops and maintains a professional relationship with other Judaica bibliographers, providing leadership at the national level in various organizations.
· Participates in the Special and Area Studies Collections departmental strategic planning process.
· Prepares collection assessment studies and defines resource needs.
· Participates in the Library’s development program.
· Participates in the Library’s exhibition program.
· Participates in the Library’s research and publication program.
· Serves on Library and departmental consultative bodies as appropriate.
· Pursues professional development opportunities, including research, publication, and professional association activities, to meet library-wide criteria for tenure and promotion.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
· Thorough knowledge of one Jewish language and a working knowledge of one additional Jewish language
· Strong familiarity with Jewish history and culture
· An ALA accredited MLS degree (or foreign equivalency) or graduate degree in the bibliographic subject area or related field
· Experience in an academic or research library, with experience in managing and enhancing library collections, including those supporting Jewish Studies or other relevant and equivalent professional experience. A minimum of three (3) years for appointment as an Assistant University Librarian. A minimum of six (6) years for appointment as an Associate University Librarian.
· Effective oral and written communication skills in English
· Familiarity with information and digital-based technologies and automated library systems

The Library is built on the core collection of Rabbi Leonard C. Mishkin of Chicago. At the time of its acquisition by the Smathers Libraries in 1977, it was the largest personal library of Judaica and Hebraica in the United States.
Formally dedicated in March 1981 to support the teaching and research missions of the Center for Jewish Studies at the University of Florida, the Library is named for Isser and Rae Price, whose sons, Jack and Samuel Price of Jacksonville, Florida, established a fund to support sustained development of its collections.

The Price Library of Judaica is a well-balanced Jewish studies collection of notable depth and scope. Its diversified holdings of uncommon research materials in English and other languages support scholarship in virtually every aspect of the Jewish experience. Materials relevant to the ancient, medieval and modern periods await advanced students, visiting scholars and casual readers who possess a curiosity about a creative people with 4,000 years of recorded history.

Gainesville, Florida and the surrounding community are home to approximately 240,000 people. Gainesville is also home to the University of Florida and Santa Fe Community College. Indiana University’s School of Library and Information Science (SLIS) at Bloomington invites applications for two full-time tenure-track faculty positions (open rank). The successful candidates will have earned doctorates in information science or a closely related field and will demonstrate evidence of effective teaching and scholarship along with experience/expertise in a core area of the curriculum such as information retrieval, archives, or reference.

SLIS has an interdisciplinary faculty whose backgrounds include cognitive science, computer science, information science, librarianship, linguistics, philosophy, and political science. Its faculty was recently ranked first in North America for its scholarly productivity and impact. In addition to the Master of Library Science (MLS) degree, the school offers the Master of Information Science (MIS), a Ph.D. in Information Science and an extensive roster of dual degrees, certificates and specializations. The School’s programs have been accredited continuously by the American Library Association for almost sixty years.

Western Kentucky University is seeking an Electronic Resources Librarian, reporting to the Head of Library Public Services with collaborative report to the Head of Library Technical Services. This is a 10-month tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor. Duties: coordinate selection, acquisition, and maintenance of electronic resources; oversee licensing, compliance, statistical reports, access, and other technology issues; chair library-wide electronic resources committee; represent libraries on state-wide committees selecting electronic resources; assist with institutional repository and other digital initiatives; provide reference assistance, collection development, and research instruction in areas of specialization; and related duties as assigned. Research and publication required for promotion and tenure.

Requirements: ALA-accredited MLS plus an additional graduate degree; experience managing electronic resources; knowledge of HTML or Web development software; openness to emerging technologies; reference experience; ability to communicate effectively with faculty, staff, and students.

Preferred: Experience with client-server applications, Javascript, and Voyager integrated library system; expertise in English, Philosophy, Religion, Music, Computer Science, or related areas.
