Librarian, Government Publications, Maps, GIS, and Microforms. Raymond H. Fogler Library, University of Maine, Orono seeks an experienced librarian to serve as department head and to administer and coordinate fulfillment of the legal responsibilities as a Tri-State Regional Federal Government Document Depository and to support the instructional, research, and public service functions of the University by providing collection management, public, and technical service for the past, present, and future acquisitions of United States federal, Canadian federal and provincial, and Agricultural Experiment Station publications. Also to manage the delivery of Geographic Information Systems services including development of numeric and spatial database and software collections, creation of GIS instructional materials and the delivery of campus GIS workshops. Prepares reports and library publications, including web pages. Supervises four support staff and four student employees.

Required: ALA-accredited MLS and professional experience in an academic, or state, or public library with demonstrated experience with federal documents. Demonstrated leadership, management, and supervisory experience in a library. Demonstrated ability to manage programs, staff, and technology. Excellent oral and written communication skills for interpersonal, presentation, negotiation, and consensus-building. Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment. A willingness to travel within the Tri-State Region and to national conferences as needed or appropriate. Normally requiring a valid driver’s license. Must have authorization to work in the U.S.

Preferred: Experience working collaboratively with libraries, other institutions, and with state and federal governments. Experience with GIS. Experience preparing materials for and teaching workshops.

Raymond H. Fogler Library is the primary research library for the State of Maine. The University of Maine is the Land Grant University and Sea Grant College for the State of Maine.
