with two vacancies at the Associate University Librarian level provides us with

The Washington
University Libraries invites applications for two positions at the Associate
University Librarian level. We are
seeking creative, innovative, visionary administrators who desire to be part of
a dynamic and collegial senior leadership team as we enter into formal planning
for our future.
We invite
applicants who have demonstrated dynamic, innovative and creative approaches to
leading projects, solving problems, and initiating new services designed to
meet user needs. Areas of
oversight will be determined by the experience and background of the successful
candidates through matching talents with AUL roles. Areas could include access services, support for teaching
and research, collections, digital services, special collections or other
units. As members of the senior
management team, the AUL’s will participate in planning, budget, operations,
and personnel decisions for the libraries.
Persons hired for
these positions will help develop, articulate and share the Library’s vision and direct staff to
develop and implement innovations, comprehensive programs and services based on
the vision. Other responsibilities are: Play a significant lead role in library-wide planning,
setting strategic initiatives, resource education, policy development and
evaluation of activities and services.
Work collaboratively with library staff and faculty and students to
address scholarly, research, teaching and learning needs expeditiously. Provide leadership and direction to
specific areas of the Libraries and lead multiple projects and initiatives.
These positions
require a graduate degree from an accredited library school or other relevant
graduate degree. Given the level
of these positions, we would normally expect candidates to have a minimum of 5
years of progressively responsible experience in an academic institution. However, other applicable experience will
be considered.
Washington
