Amherst College Library seeks a Social Sciences Librarian to serve as the Library’s primary subject specialist for social sciences and law, acting as liaison, research instructor, and selector in those disciplines. This Librarian will provide instruction in research and the use of library resources in a variety of settings, with a special emphasis on social sciences, legal studies, government information, and data. S/he will demonstrate a dedication to promoting research and to undergraduate teaching and a willingness to hone skills as a library instructor.. S/he will maintain currency with emerging information technologies and trends in scholarly communication, anticipating and facilitating new uses of social sciences research and data in response to evolving patterns of publishing and information dissemination. The Social Sciences Librarian serves as coordinator of the Library’s federal depository program. S/he also participates in general reference services, guiding and instructing library patrons in identifying, retrieving and evaluating information in all formats. S/he will also play an active role in the development and enhancement of public services in general. Full-time, with some evenings and weekends.
Qualifications: Must have a strong academic background or experience in social sciences as well as an ability to locate and evaluate relevant data. Master’s degree from a program accredited by the American Library Association or foreign equivalent required. Must have minimum of three years professional experience in an academic or research library or equivalent, preferably in reference, collection development and/or user education. Demonstrated ability to teach and a commitment to participate in undergraduate education required. Strong communication skills required. North Quad Programming Coordinator
The University of Michigan Library invites applications and nominations for the new position of North Quad Programming Coordinator. This position offers the successful candidate an opportunity to develop, manage and present an innovative exhibit and events program designed to enrich the intellectual, educational, and cultural life of the University of Michigan campus, within the context of the North Quad facility. North Quad, an internationally themed residential and academic complex, blends residential life with academics by incorporating highly developed and technology-rich learning environments with modern residential space. Fine Arts Librarian
The Katherine W. Dumke Fine Arts and Architecture Library, housed in the J. Willard Marriott Library at the University of Utah, is seeking an innovative and creative librarian to work in an exciting and recently renovated learning environment of free and open inquiry combined with a commitment to excellence in service. Reporting to the Head of Fine Arts, responsibilities of the Fine Arts Librarian will include specialized research assistance, instruction, collection development for print and digital resources, outreach, and digital projects in the areas of the visual arts, art history, architecture, music, ballet, modern dance, film and theatre. Opportunities exist for building collaborations across the library, campus, and community in support of Fine Arts and interdisciplinary work. This individual will help users blend visual and textual resources in support of a new University of Utah visual, information and technology literacy initiative. This program is being developed to embed teaching of these literacies into the undergraduate curriculum to prepare students for life and work in the 21st century.
Required qualifications
• ALA-accredited MLS/MLIS, or equivalent academic credential, by June 2010.

Responsibilities
The Bancroft Library’s University Archives Processing Archivist reports to the Head of Bancroft Technical Services and is responsible for University Archives (UARC) and History of Science and Technology faculty collections that must be processed, arranged and described. These include both personal papers and administrative records covering a variety of topics and subject areas. The archivist works with the UARC Team to assist with the development and implementation of the records inventory instrument, field visits to campus offices, development of the inventory database, data input of survey results, analysis of the record reports, and creation of retention and disposition schedules.
The archivist has full responsibility for managing processing projects and supervising staff, which includes processing archivists, support staff, student assistants, and volunteers. He/she establishes priorities for arrangement and description of the collections, including the processing plans and finding aid structures. The archivist manages the unit workflow and work schedules, and establishes mechanisms for timely turn-around of such collections. He/she hires and trains unit student staff and edits/reviews unit staff work-product, especially the re-housing of the collections, labeling, and creation of finding aids and other descriptions. He/she plans the goals for collection processing and develops processing plans for specific collections in coordination with unit staff and curators in determining order, specificity, and appropriate level of description and analysis. He/she works with the University Archivists in the preservation assessment of collections and in selection of materials for conservation treatment. The archivist works with the BTS staff on appraisal of collections and administration of new acquisitions.

-MLS from an accredited library school with coursework in archival administration and experience in an archival repository.
