Annual Salary: $41,000 to $45,000

Note: An employment offer is contingent upon university funding of the position

Serving within the reference department and reporting to the Associate Director for Public Services, the Instruction/Reference Librarian is actively involved in the library’s information literacy program, provides reference assistance to students, faculty and staff, and serves as library liaison to one or more university departments. Duties include:
· Teaches 1-4 sections of IDIS 110, Introduction to Information Literacy.
· Provides reference services and library instruction to library patrons, including advising researchers on appropriate electronic and print resources to complete research projects; works collaboratively with faculty to develop library collections.
· Participates in instruction activities to students, faculty and staff in both course-related instruction and subject-specific research workshops. Participates in campus and system-wide initiatives on information literacy. Provides individual instruction as requested.
· Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Requires a Master’s of Library Science from an ALA-accredited library school plus required skills. Also requires:
One year of library experience, preferably in an academic setting
One year of instruction/teaching experience, preferably in an academic setting
Experience in developing online resources and research tools
Familiarity with standard research databases
Excellent communication (oral and written) skills
Excellent time management and project management skills
Ability to work with others in a cooperative manner within a team environment and with those of varying degrees of technological aptitude

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Familiarity with business, liberal arts and social science resources
Evidence of initiative and innovation in library services
Experience with course management software and virtual reference
