The Monroe County Public Library enjoys strong community support and was included in national rankings by both HAPLR and LJ indexes in the last year. The Library seeks an experienced and committed leader to join its team. The Library serves a population of approximately 130,000 in a Big Ten university town located in the beautiful rolling hills of southern Indiana. With a $7 million operating budget, 170 employees, facilities in Bloomington and Ellettsville, and a strong outreach program, the Library provides the full range of library services, plus an award-winning literacy program and five community access television channels.
The Associate Director is responsible for the Library’s public service strategy and serves as a member of the administrative team; provides leadership and support for the managers of Adult Services, Children’s Services, Circulation, Collection Services, Community Outreach, Ellettsville Branch, Facilities, and Information Services; evaluates library performance statistics and customer/staff feedback to support collaborative, data-based decision making; leads facilities improvements; and represents the Library in the community.
The successful candidate will be a results-oriented leader with a deep commitment to providing quality service to the public and working in a team environment.
