Assistant Dean for Library Public Services

The Claire T. Carney Library is recruiting for an Assistant Dean for Library Public Services. The Assistant Dean for Library Public Services supervises the Access Services and Information Services divisions; provides leadership and coordination for all service aspects of library operations; co-manages the Learning and Scholarly Commons; leads the library’s information literacy initiatives; and coordinates library support for online and blended programs. S/he ensures that public service operations are aligned with the strategic plans of the university and the library. The Assistant Dean for Public Services will have a strong commitment to excellent public service and will have significant experience working in an academic library public service unit. S/he will work closely with students, faculty, administrators, staff, and community users to ensure that library services are relevant to their needs. S/he will have excellent leadership and managerial skills to plan, articulate, and implement services. As a member of the Library Administrative Council, the Assistant Dean collaborates in determining policies and works closely with relevant library committees and teams.

Minimum qualifications include: Master’s Degree in Library/Information Science from
an ALA- accredited institution. Significant management/supervisor experience in public
services in an academic library. Significant experience providing information
literacy/library instruction in a classroom setting; significant experience providing
reference services in an academic library; experience in planning for and assessing library
public services
