Instruction Librarian for User Education Technologies
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will assist the Instruction Coordinator in the development, implementation, promotion, and assessment of an expanding library instruction program that contributes to successful student learning. Collaborates with the Instruction, Learning Commons, Liaison, and Web Services Librarians to incorporate technology into teaching and instruction activities. Leads and participates in the creation and maintenance of digital learning objects, including tutorials, for use in web-based library instruction. Works with faculty and university instructional designers to incorporate objects into online courseware and other campus Web sites and learning object repositories, and assists in the application of information literacy outcomes and assessment measures for these materials. Participates in teaching basic library research and information literacy skills to undergraduate students in course-related in-person instruction, and in basic reference service provided at the Learning Commons Research Support Desk.

JOB SUMMARY:
The University of Florida Libraries seeks a creative and service-oriented reference and collection management librarian for the sciences. The Science and Technology Librarian provides reference assistance, instruction, outreach, and collection management for disciplines served by the Marston Science Library. A key element of the assignment is the use of new technology to access and deliver information to library users. The librarian works constructively in group efforts and maintains close working relationships with faculty, students and colleagues. The position is responsible for special projects such as collection reviews, monitoring UF science publications, or preparation of web-based resources. The incumbent will be assigned liaison responsibilities to specific departments in science or engineering related to the candidate’s educational background, previous experience and availability. The library encourages staff participation in reaching management decisions and, consequently, the Science and Technology Librarian will be asked to serve on various committees and teams. RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Provides traditional and electronic reference services for faculty, students and staff of the University of Florida. Participates in the provision of traditional reference desk, reference chat and email reference services. Proactively assists library patrons with the use of computer workstations.

Research Librarian for Business
The Research Librarian for Business will provide liaison and outreach to faculty and students of the Paul Merage School of Business. The Paul Merage School of Business has been ranked among the top 50 business schools nationally by the Wall Street Journal, Business Week and U.S. News and World Report. The School's program is known for its focus and integration of Information Technology for Management in its curriculum. This focus emphasizes the need for a thorough understanding of how to use information and technology resources. The Paul Merage School of Business is ranked within the top 10 in Information Technology by the Wall Street Journal and the Financial Times. The School offers a full-time Ph.D. program, and four MBA programs (Full-time MBA, Executive MBA, Fully Employed MBA, and Health Care Executive MBA). Beginning Fall 2008 the School will also offer a BA in Business Administration and a BS in Information Management.

Duties and Responsibilities
In the area of collection development, the Research Librarian for Business will be responsible for the selection, assessment, and management of collections and resources in business and management including reference resources. The Research Librarian will serve as liaison to the faculty and students in The Paul Merage School of Business to ensure that their information needs are being met and to promote the Libraries’ services and resources. The Research Librarian will be responsible for monitoring budgets and making collections decisions that support the teaching and research needs on campus. The incumbent will keep abreast of new publications and electronic resources in business and management and will develop and update subject web pages in support of curriculum and research in The Paul Merage School of Business.
The UCI Libraries fund the business electronic resources available to the campus, and The Paul Merage School of Business funds electronic resources available in its "ELibrary" (restricted to The Paul Merage School of Business students, faculty, and staff). The Research Librarian for Business will work with both the UCI Libraries and The Merage School of Business to ensure that teaching and research needs are being met by the joint collections.
In the area of reference, the Research Librarian for Business will provide specialized business and general reference services at the Langson Library Reference Desk, supporting information needs in business, social sciences, government publications, humanities, education, and the arts. The Research Librarian for Business will provide approximately ten hours of reference service weekly, including responding to in-person, telephone, and electronic inquiries. The candidate will provide specialized individual research consultations and also maintain sufficient knowledge to provide effective general reference assistance. Occasional weekend and evening shifts are required.
In the area of instruction, the Research Librarian for Business will provide and promote subject-based instruction ranging from general orientations and overviews of electronic resources in business to customized presentations for specific course assignments. The candidate will also participate in the Libraries' information literacy initiatives and general education programs to assist campus and community users in improving their critical thinking, information seeking, and research skills.

Langson Library Reference Department
As the primary research and information center of the Langson Library, the department supports research and teaching in the Arts, Education, Humanities, Social Sciences and Business and Management. The department provides reference services including research consultation, online searching, tours, and a wide range of instructional programs and workshops. The Reference Collection consists of key print resources along with a growing collection of media, data and electronic resources in the Multimedia Resources Center, which is also located in the department. A large Technology Enhanced Classroom and a robust wireless network throughout the Libraries provide excellent facilities for teaching. The department operates in a team-based environment and the staff consists of 10 librarians; 5 FTE library assistants and a computer resource specialist.

We are seeking an individual who can help provide leadership and resources for students residing in University Housing in creating and fostering communities that strive toward this vision. This includes supporting the academic mission of the university by developing environments conducive to student learning and academic success, respecting, appreciating, and advocating for the diversity of our student population, fostering collaboration with the University Library, and supporting the holistic development of all our students.
The eight Residence Hall Libraries were established to meet the informational, educational, cultural, and recreational needs of our students. The Residence Hall Library collection consists of 28,000 book titles, a large collection of DVDs, compact discs, popular magazines, and newspapers including an extensive diversity and social identity collection. The Librarian coordinates the administration and supervision of all libraries and library staff in the University Housing Library system. He or she serves as an information specialist within University Housing and Residential Life. The Librarian supervises two full time secretaries, 2 graduate assistants, math and science tutors, and 55 students.
Requirements for CandidacyEducational Master of Library Science (MLS) or Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) from an ALA-accredited school or its degree equivalent, minimum of three years full time experience in a library environment, including administrative experience and experience managing multiple priorities while coordinating a diverse set of functions is required of all applicants.

Reporting to the Head of Non-Print Management, this position involves leadership and management of the day-to-day operations of the Ordering and Metadata Management (OMM) unit within the Department, including:

QUALIFICATIONS: MLS from an ALA-accredited program; additional advanced degree preferred. At least 4 years demonstrated successful experience in increasingly responsible positions managing or supervising cataloging and/or database maintenance activities ,e-resource and media ordering, and licensing in academic or research libraries. Knowledge of and experience with LC classification, AACR2, LCSH, and a variety of metadata and associated functional standards and tools (Dublin Core, MODS), OCLC, and cataloging in non-print formats, including both serials and monographs. Experience with digital projects (e.g. repositories) and integrated library systems, especially III's Millennium system, preferred. Excellent planning, analytical, interpersonal, communications, supervisory, project management and organizational skills desired. Ability to work internally and externally with a wide variety of individual at all levels, a strong service orientation, and demonstrated commitment to staff development and diversity in the workplace.

Position: Western State College of Colorado seeks a librarian to energize and grow the library’s information literacy program. The public services/information literacy librarian leads and participates in the design, delivery, and assessment of information literacy instruction to students. Science Liasion/Librarian
The University Library seeks a second committed and energetic science librarian to provide innovative teaching and research support to the following departments: Biology, Physics & Astronomy, and GeoSciences/Maps. For these departments of responsibility, the librarian will develop collections in all formats. This position reports to the Head of Liaison & Outreach Services.
The Department of Biology offers undergraduate and graduate training programs (M.S. and Ph.D.) and runs research programs coordinated around four main disciplines: Applied and Environmental Microbiology, Cellular Molecular Biology and Physiology, Molecular Genetics and Biochemistry, and Neurobiology and Behavior. The Biology Department has distinguished itself for its innovative outreach in the community including the Bio-bus, a mobile teaching laboratory which tours Georgia Public Schools. The department of Physics & Astronomy offers undergraduate and graduate programs and operates the CHARA Array Telescope on Mt Wilson, California which can be remotely controlled from Atlanta. The department of Geosciences offers a B.A. and M.A. in Geography, a B.S. and M.S. in Geology, an Advanced Certificate in Hydrogeology, a Professional Certificate in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and a Ph.D. in Chemistry with Geology Specialization. Georgia State University has just broken ground on a new Science Park which will house a science teaching laboratory.
Responsibilities
This position works collaboratively with the science liaison for Chemistry. The successful candidate will provide research assistance and instruction to students and faculty in the assigned departments; deliver quality, in-depth reference and consultation services and collection development in the assigned subject areas; promote the library and information literacy; and foster communication between the science departments and the library. Liaison librarians assist with the general reference service that includes desk and virtual reference hours and are responsible for occasional weekend and evening hours. As faculty members, liaison librarians serve on library committees and engage in scholarly activities.
Requirements
ALA-accredited master’s degree in information/library science. Subject background and/or relevant experience in one of the advertised subject areas. Familiarity with resources in a variety of formats, skill in use of technology and web based applications, excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills. Required Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in relevant field required. At least 7 to 10 years of experience in human resources management, organizational development, or related areas required. Understanding of and ability to provide leadership for diversity and climate issues in academic setting. Ability to collaborate effectively with a broad workforce of academic librarians, staff and students. Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated leadership skills and teamwork philosophy. Proven supervisory, financial management and analytical skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
MLS and experience in academic research libraries highly desired. Graduate degree in HR related field preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience. PHR or SPHR certification.

JOB SUMMARY:
The Personnel Services and Employee Development Coordinator provides leadership to the human resources and training and development functions of the University Libraries. The Coordinator ensures the delivery of vital customer services including: employee relations; interpretation of library and university policies; and faculty and staff recruitment. The Coordinator facilitates key processes including: tenure and promotion, professional development leave, and employee evaluations. The Coordinator develops and leads a need-based and outcome-oriented training and development program.
The duties of this position include:
Human Resources:
1. Coordinates recruitment activities and supports the work of faculty search committees.
2. Ensures delivery of excellent customer service through the HR Office.
3. Develops and maintains policies and processes.
4. Interprets library and UF personnel policies.

Resource Acquisition Librarian
Job Description: The Resource Acquisitions Librarian is responsible for managing the acquisition of materials in all formats and for the bibliographic control of electronic resources and serials. The Resource Acquisitions Librarian works closely with the Collection Management Librarian in the preparation and allocation of the library’s print, serials, and electronic resources budget, coordinates licensing agreements for electronic resources, and supervises acquisitions staff. This position will also serve as academic liaison to assigned departments and participate with all library faculty in the reference rotation, including occasional evenings and weekends. The candidate must be committed to serve diverse populations.
Qualifications: MLS from an ALA-accredited institution or the equivalent from a foreign university and a minimum of two years of professional experience are required. Candidates are also required to have acquisitions and supervisory experience. Preference will be given to applicants with academic, cataloging, and budgeting experience. Successful completion of an on-campus interview, including a presentation on a relevant topic, to be determined by the search committee, is also required. As a tenure-track position, the successful candidate must be able to meet the academic and scholarly requirements for tenure.

Digital Conversion Production Manager
The Digital Library Production Service (DLPS), a part of the University of Michigan University Library, is UM’s key organization for creation, deployment and support of local digital library collections. DLPS, with over 20 FTE, including librarians, computing professionals, and support staff, provides production-level support for digital library collections in a number of subject areas and formats. Online collection resources include significant image-and text-based journal collections, art image collections, and a leading edge XML development effort. Staff members within DLPS assume responsibility for access mechanisms, data loading, security, accounting and billing mechanisms, as well as creation and conversion activities. DLPS provides these services to the University of Michigan as well as other institutions, and works with consortia such as the Digital Library Federation (DLF) and the Committee on Institutional Cooperation (CIC) to advance the development of sound digital libraries.
Under the supervision of the Head of DLPS, the Digital Conversion Production Manager supervises a unit of 6 professionals, and part-time workers and student assistants, including technicians for digital capture and conversion of textual materials and continuous tone images. The incumbent is responsible for coordinating departmental priorities and long-range unit planning with the Head of the Digital Library Production Service.
The Digital Conversion Production Manager develops and maintains a productive and cost effective processing operation which is responsive to the needs of other library units and library users. Establishes and analyzes statistical measurements of productivity. Plans and oversees development of new production formats and workflows based on emerging Library priorities. Plans and implements effective quality control methods for ensuring accurate and reliable digital conversion. As part of the library’s partnership with Google to digitize the library’s collections, the incumbent performs analysis of specifications, and manages the digitization of materials not digitized by Google.
The DCU constantly strives to provide the most efficient, cost-effective and highest quality methods of digitization of library collections. The DCU works with units throughout the library system to digitize library collections, including rare and valuable materials, such as papyri, maps and rare books, as well as damaged library materials. The DCU monitors its quality control processes to reduce errors and provide high quality digital objects for the library’s large online collections.

QUALIFICATIONS:
REQUIRED:
· ALA accredited Masters Degree, or an equivalent combination of a relevant advanced degree and experience;
· Knowledge of and experience with a wide range of digital formats, including digital text and image formats, and with a wide range of digitization techniques and equipment, and knowledge of standards for digital objects and metadata;
· 2 years or more supervisory responsibility involving digitization;
· Excellent written and oral skills, and ability to work in a team environment;
