Assistant Branch Manager

Candidates must have a MLS Degree from an ALA Accredited Library School and 3 years library managerial experience that includes youth services, public libraries and staff supervision.

The person filling this position must have knowledge of library materials, issues and trends as well as reference and readers advisory.  The Assistant Branch Manager mediates patron complaints, supervises staff in Regional Branch Manager’s absence, prepares schedules, assigns duties, and evaluates performance to ensure quality service. 

The person will develop and train staff, and will be involved in material selections conducive to the community.  The Assistant Branch Manager participates in community events and works with community group in order to promote the Library and its initiatives.  Excellent verbal, written and computer literacy skills are essential and must have a definite commitment to public service within an urban library setting.  Persons who speak Spanish or other foreign languages are encouraged to apply.  Experience working with diverse populations is a plus.
