Intellectual Access and Metadata Services Librarian

The Claude Moore Health Sciences Library at the University of Virginia seeks a dynamic individual to provide leadership to the library and its partners for information, data, and resource discovery through the application of metadata and intellectual access activities.  This is a full-time faculty appointment residing in the Collections & Library Services department and reporting to the Associate Director of Collections & Library Services.  

Requirements: Excellent interpersonal skills, strong commitments to service and teamwork, the ability to manage multiple priorities in a changing environment.  ALA-accredited Master’s in Library Science degree required.  Demonstrated knowledge of the following bibliographic control and metadata practices and standards: RDA, AACR, MARC21, XML, Dublin Core, MODS, METS, and controlled and uncontrolled vocabulary.   Demonstrated knowledge of scholarly communications issues, such as open access, institutional repositories, and author rights.

Preferred:  A minimum of 2 years post-MLS professional experience working in an academic technical services department.
